Best Budget Tires

I am in the process of ordered new wheels for my e90. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for tires. I am a bit tight with my budget and looking for something in the 500-600 range for a complete set.

I was considering the Hankoook Ventus v12 Evo2 or Firestone Indy 500. Anyone try these tires out and can provide feedback or any other recommendations in this price range will be greatly appreciated.

I run the Sumitomo HTR ZIII and they're fine.

They will be within your budget and get great reviews on TireRack.

I have used the General Altimax RT43. Good all around tire and well rated on Tire Rack for an all season tire.

Check out Federal tires. Cheap and sticky.

Budget tires can be a tricky game to play, I always suggest reaching out to your local tire shop and see what they suggest. That way IF you run into an issue (and they are a quality shop that stands behind their products) you can easily work with them to get it corrected.

Only Federals I've ever ran are the 595RS-RR which are a pretty good bang for your buck. They were pretty loud, nice and sticky, and as expected with a high-performance tire didn't last very long.

I just put the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s on my 328 and I love them. For what you pay for, they have excellent grip and are not extremely stiff. I've heard some say that they're getting more expensive, but I was able to find them on Tire Rack for just under $100 each. I put on the 225/45R/17s on mine.

Here's the link: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

Total cost of tires + installation (with all that other tire pressure and alignment crap): $530 at Wheel Works (on Tire Rack it says installation there is about $80 whereas if you go through Wheel Works, it's about $140 to install).

I bought a used set of wheels that had Ventus V12 Evo 2 on them. I likely would have never selected them myself.

Turns out I’m pretty happy with the ride on them and they did ok at the autocross too. My rears (275/35r18) went bald so I just bought another set of same size rears for $300 installed for both rear tires. After paying that price I’m very happy with them!

Firestone Fire hawks. They hook, they’re quiet, and awesome in the rain! Cool tread pattern too if that matters.

Yep. You just need need to figure out the break even point with them vs PS4's or something along those lines.

Assuming that you're in a search for all seasons, I just mounted a fresh set of Continental DWS 06 on my e90 xi and are a drastic improvement over the beat RF's. Very quiet, and in most all the reviews ranked higher than Hankooks, Generals, and Yokohanas.
They come in a little over $100/ a tire, great bargain.

Are you looking for a budget performance tire, or just a budget tire? Honestly, I'm a huge fan of Federal. Not the 595 SS (super steel) but the 595 Evo, the RS-R and RS-RR are awesome for a semi slick on the cheap. The 595 Evo is what I currently have on the back of my car, and they hook up extremely well in comparison to a lot of other tires I've run. And, I don't feel guilty if I burn a set up since a pair of new rears is like $250 shipped to my door.

Okay, so im a bit split. I live in the Bay Area and winters almost never go below freezing here. So I am leaning towards High performance Summer Tires. However, the mountains are not too far away and it would be nice having extra life from All Seasons.

In other words I'm really looking for performance but don't want to trade off too much longevity. Anyone run Summer Tires in 40-80 degree wether?

Thanks for the replies so far everyone. After consideration, I'm willing to shell out a bit more dollaz if necessary.

I wouldn't consider Federals unless you are FBO or even FBO with hyrbids and need the traction and don't mind the noise. They are LOUD. With that being said, I'm about to order a set of Rs-RRs. Need that traction and I put limited miles on the car each year. I'll have to live with the noise.

Im going to add to the Firestone indy 500's amazing tire for the price. My only complaint is they sure do smell after a burnout. I leave the car outside over night if its seen any track time that day.

Lol funny how you consider $500-$600 a set as budget tires...

I got true budget tires, $215 a set shipped to my door. 225/45/17
300 treadwear rating, Traction and Temperature rating A.

Right, I mean to each their own man. I ended getting a set of Pirelli's cause I had some extra cash to spend. Thanks for all the input everyone. I'll keep it in mind for when these loose their grip.
