I know that the chimes will be lost when going to an aftermarket head unit, and I suspect that to include the rear parking sensor alerts too... Am I right? If so, it's def not making sense to me change it out... Please and thanks

That's an interesting question. I'm not sure of the answer. However, you can retain the factory chimes using a harness sold by a member here on the forum. Basically it relocates your factory head unit so you can add an aftermarket one while keeping the chimes. Search for relocating head unit or retain factory chimes...something along those lines.
