Took the lines off to get fitting sizes and stuff today. The stock cooler fittings just push in, are held with a bolt, and seal with an O ring. If you look though you will see the same passageway is shared by the bolts on the top of the housing. So one could actually use the top to put fittings on for a new oil cooler. The question is though, which oil cooler will the oil flow to if you did this. Obviously it will take the path of least resistance, but I doubt all the oil would flow through one and not the other. It may not be too unbalanced at all. Especially with an after market oil cooler that's probably less of a restriction then stock, if anything it would flow more through it. I may try this before trying to hunt down the stock line fittings.

That was only a temporary thing since I won't have one in place before my next track day in the summer heat, which I'm still going to try (along with removing the cowl).

Options are kidney grills (Yes I understand the downsides), behind the intercooler, and somewhere on the bottom of the car with a scoop in the belly pan pulling air up (a wide short cooler would be best for this).

Last one would be best, but the mounting would be difficult, longer lines would have to be run and a little ground clearance would be lost (collapsible scoop would fix and be easy to make).

What do you mean by the same housing and fittings?

It looks like it's somewhat of a compression fit since the pipes are going through the top fitting.

The stock oil cooler lines push in on the bottom and are held in by a bolt. The top though, straight up from the bottom, has a pair of bolts plugging the threaded holes you see. There's no real reason for them to be there as they serve no function. They connect to the same passage (supply passage and return passage) as the stock oil cooler lines though. Which means if you were to feed an oil cooler with these it would have access to oil.

The question I wanted to discuss was where the oil would flow. Since the oil cooler would not be in series (from thermostat to oil cooler, out to second oil cooler, out back to thermo stat) but in parallel instead (two oil cooler lines connected to the same feed port, oil can travel to either cooler and return to the return port) if the oil would flow through both oil coolers in this configuration or not. It should follow the pass of least resistance. The question is will the resistance equalize enough to provide balanced flow to both.

As long as the oil pressure is good, I don't think you'll see a problem running oil coolers in parallel.

Well I know pressure doesn't directly relate to flow, and didn't he have not the best results with his? I'm not sure as he wouldn't tell me a dam thing about it.

Understood that pressure doesn't equal to flow, however if your oil capacity is greater with the second cooler, I doubt that the stock cooler will have enough flow to satisfy the greater capacity so it would have to flow to the second cooler. As you said, path of least resistance. In that case it would be the second cooler as long as pressure was maintained.

Yeah WalkedU didn't respond to my questions either about the setrab. Although it sounded like his set up was pretty sound. I've seen other cars run with parallel coolers without issues.
