Key fob starting to die/Program new fob?

I have a '13 E93 335i, non-CA. My key range has always been crap (20ft maybe), but recently I've been having issues locking the car and way lower range than usual. I'll be right next to it, pressing the button, holding the button etc, but it will take like 20s to lock the car and its driving me crazy. I'm not sure if this is an issue on the key's end or the car's end, but how should I go about figuring out which is the culprit?

New battery

Most likely it needs a new battery. I had both fobs die and thought it was the car. Replaced some parts, checked fuses, etc. with no change. Ordered some new batteries off ebay, soldered them in and whalla! working like new again. Also replaced the cases, it's like I got all new keys now!
