E90 320D 2007 Crank position sensor

Hey, i have a car that has a problem with the crankcase sensor.

I broke the old sensor when i tried to remove it and ended up making a crack or braking a part of the area where the sensor is being hold i believe. the new sensor is mounted. not sure if its 100% in the right spot.

i have code
3E90 crankshaft encoder, signal
changed the sensor twice and not change. the car was running before. but shutting down at random times. i have checked the wires.

how important to the milimeter does the sensor sitt right.

Thank you.
