Atlanta Dealerships Fixing Wastegate Rattle

Hi Guys,

I recently bought my car in Atlanta, it was a CPO but it expires in October. It also has the extended maintenance program. It's a 2007 SG with Saddle Brown interior with 58k miles.

Now what I want to know is if anyone in the area successfully got their turbos replaced at the dealership for wastegate rattle and which dealership they went to. I'm currently still discussing with United Gwinnett, and have an appointment set for Global Imports BMW near Cumberland.

Let me know if you have any words of wisdom or advice for this procedure, I really hate to have to live with this as I find everything else perfect about the car.

Got my Wastegate replace as well at Global, BMW will not replace your turbos. They told me, it has nothing to do with the turbos.

Did it resolve the rattle? Hmm, I will try United one more time Thursday, and then try Global next week if they won't do it. I want the car restored while its still under CPO.

try united roswell, i work there, see taylor mcdonald, but to warn you, were booked up for appointments until the 21st due to the 5series recall, and hes right, the wastegate in not integrated into the turbos as one unit, bmw will replace a faulty turbo, but thats not whats going on in your case...

Yeah, mine is rattling for sure but its not as bad as others yet. Which sucks because my CPO will run out in October and I really want to get these types of issues resolved before then.

my car is 2007 e92, with 63K miles. i stopped in at United Roswell last week and they ran my VIN. said there is no warranty or extended warranty on wastegate for my car.

looking into buying extended warranty but it's ~$2500.

how much would it cost to get wastegates replace? or for any of you going to Global, are they only replacing under your CPO?

thanks

It has to be pretty bad in order for them to fix it. Mine quiets down after 5 minutes or so. Wastegate replacement is pretty expensive because they are so hard to reach. May was well replace turbos at that point.

Under CPO, they don't cover "noises or rattles" so it's a touchy subject. If you're looking to buy the extended warranty to cover the wastegates, its a real toss up =/

from what i remember bmw extended the warranty on turbos to 8 years 82k or something weird like that. That being said-wastegate issues are related to the turbo itself because its not always the actuator itself causing the noise but the arm on the turbo causing the noise due to too much play in the bushing where it passes through the turbo.

There is wastegate coding you can do before having the dealer install new wastegates. It's for 07/08 models only.

I did it to my car and it quieted it down a lot. If the rattle comes back over time then wastegates would need to be done.

Yeah, although I believe the extended warranty only applies to the turbos that have been replaced, because they are rebuilt.

Have anyone had any success with this with their dp still installed? I dont mind removing any other mods, but I refuse to touch those things again.

That's my whole issue!! I've been putting up with the rattle for over a year, but know none of the stealerships will fix it with the DP's on.

If you are trying to find a great deal on a car, there is a website I came across that can help. It will help you compare costs. It is very important to have an automobile, even if you normally ride the bus or take a bike. If you are ever late for reasons unknown, it is always good to have a backup. From different car deals online, you get the most perfect vehicle purchasing experience possible.
