Will removing my driver's seat turn on a warning light?

Years ago, when I removed the driver's seat in my 98 M3 to have some upholstery work done,....I ended up having an airbag light on when I re-installed the seat. I ended up buying a tool to reset the light. Seems like it was $100ish. Wondering if I will have the same issue with my 06 330i sport premium? If so, wondering if the reset tool I bought for my 98 E36 might work,................OR.............if disconnecting the battery before I remove the seat might eliminate the issue,...and the need to reset the light after re-installing the seat.

Disconect the battery before unplugging the seat harness and removing it will do the trick. Make sure to remove all bolts before doing it as you will need power to move the seat back and forth to gain access.

^this man knows of what he speaks. As always, when disconnecting battery, take steps to make sure you don't close your trunk lid!

I removed my seat a while back without disconnecting the battery and did not get any dash lights.

So, since you mentioned that, ..... I went out and tried my imbedded steel key in the trunk latch to see if I could open the trunk with it when the car was all locked up. Tried turning it both way,.....Nada. Is there a trick to opening the trunk with the manual key?

I think the trick is, it (the car) needs power.

You gotta crank on it pretty hard. I always feel like I'm gonna snap the little plastic nub off the key and then the lock finally turns.

Car has power, so that's not it.
