Best company for remap ?
So, for my 330d LCI I am thinking of :
DMS BW Chiptune E-Maps Superchips All offer roughly the same claims re performance. DMS and Emaps will come to me. BW Chiptune is not too far away. Superchips is an hour or so for me. DMS is double the price of the others but has a very good rep. I have used Superchips many times but the last (on a 320d) didn't seem to suit the car at all and I had the map removed. BW Chiptune (Jason) seems well thought of though I am concerned if he was linked to the guy who worked in Birmingham (Jayson ?) E-Maps seems to have 100% good rep and well used by many. Is one going to do a more thorough map than the others - or are they all good ? Is one less likely to be detected by BMW or not ? They all say their maps can be seen if looked for ... but I am unsure how much BMW do actually look ! If reverted to std by the mapper is the trace of that visible to BMW or not ? The car is over 3 years old but I would like to know if BMW can see it as I would put it back to std before selling it on and don't want hassle from the next owner if BMW whinge it is still mapped when it is not ! Any comments / views ? |

BW Chiptune and Emaps are very popular on here.
Not too sure about DMS as they seem to be very pricey. |

If you don't mind a little roadtrip go to BR-Performance in Belgíum. I've recently been there and my car just runs so smooth now. And the torque is unbeliveble. They really know what they are doing. I ended up with 321hp and 701Nm in my 330dA ;-) |

Haha, thanks ... and it is good you have someone you are really happy with, but I am lazy - I am keen on someone coming to me or not having to go too far

Seems optimistic given what all the other tuners get. Their own website doesn't even claim that high. http://www.br-performance.be/en-be/c...2010/551-330d/ |

No, not just a remap ;-)
I have a stage 3 in their terms. Bigger FMIC, No filter and a hybrid turbo. Should actually have had about 10Hp more..... :-)

simon did my e46 - top bloke but he gets a map from a writer abroad or he did at that time
red dot in edmonton did my 1 series - Augustus writes the maps and they are excellent Jason BW Chiptune did my tourer and out of the lot he was the best. took hours to perfect the map. he writes it then and there a proper remap. also he can dyno on site as well. if you have any problems he is happy to adjust for free. would recommend him the highest remember that if bmw update your software it can wipe the map. the only way to detect afaik is if they dyno or drive and suspect a power upgrade (which is quite easy to notice in turbo diesels tbh lol). As for other potential buyers i wouldnt worry you dont notice from "outside" some people opt to go for "removable" devices fir this reason but i dont know much about them... all my opinions hope that helps |

Emaps or BW, I've used both in the past, both very good and nice guys as well.
I echo what Theivz has said about Jason. What's good with him is he knows BMWs very well to start with. |

OP, where abouts in the UK are you?
I'll second the recommendation for P-Torque in Wolverhampton. Outstanding service.

Yes me too, and Simon came down on both occasions.
No brainer really. Note:18 of the horses were down to the exhaust,or lack of the most of it!

I got mine p torqued at my local Indy in North Lincolnshire. Just a case of sending my car file to them and letting them have a tinker then send it back ready to put on the car. Give them a ring they might have someone in your area who can do this

Maps
I had my 120d done by emaps and was very happy with the result.
For my 325d, I chose Superchips Bluefin, and I am happy with the result. I went for the Bluefin so that I could remove the map if I wished (such as when going in to BM for warranty work) and put it on again afterwards...or if BM did some sort of flash update and over wrote the new map. Overall. I think the Bluefin is the best option. |

Because my 330d is a 2010 one the ECU has to come out - they can't do it via a Bluefin device sadly ... as I would have done that - it makes it easier to sell if std. |

Well, I went with DMS who turned up this morning and did their stuff without fuss. Very professional and no issues at all.
I now need to let the map 'adapt' as 'out of the box' it didn't seem any quicker ... which I am told is normal - and to be fair was my experience with a previous remap on a Golf for the 1st hour or so's driving .. then that map settled and all hell broke loose I just need some dry weather to be able to use the gears fully and let it adapt ! It is currently wet and greasy |
