Coupe I like. Vert would be nice to get the aural (!) pleasure, but as you say, maybe a bit girly.....I guess with a few choice mods it could look a bit more manly....!!!! Need to chek out just how small (or not) they are inside....

The 335d pulls to 5k hard. Ok the 325d does not, but tuned to 290HP will eat so many cars for breakfast,
You what high revving, buy a gutless Type R mate. 325d vs 325i on a roll then its GAME OVER mate.

I have just bought another shop and was looking for something that I could do 75 miles across north Norfolk country roads 3-4 times a week in complete comfort.
I thought about another E90 or an E92 and have been looking at 335i, 335d, and even another 320d auto, but I am then drawn back to my old 1 series M-Sport. I have said it before and I will say it again, the 120d m-sport was the best all round car I have owned, it easily gobbled 3000 miles in 2 weeks around Europe, it is excellent round London and when you want to have fun it is like a go kart and entertains in a way a 3 series never can. So although I can now get an E92 335i for less money than a 123d or a 130i I think I am going to get another 1er. Personally I prefer the NA engine when going for a fun car, turbos are great for an easy life, but it is also the turbo that I get bored of so quickly too, all that 'press throttle and go' without any thought tires after a while for me. I know many love it and that's great, but not for me. Plus I don't like the coupe rear end, and I adore the hatch shape. I took out a DSG GTi, but I was pretty underwhelmed and thought it lagged well behind the baby beemer. Chrisbin, you need to go and check one out, the 123d is a stunner, and the facelfit 130i is awesome too, plus it will return 28 at worst and 36 on a run which is damned impressive. |

I'd forgotten you used to run a 1 mate. I actually like the coupe styling, and apparently the boot is bigger too which is a bonus. Actually seem to be quite rare which is also a nice thing - soooo many E92's on the road now...Other option is the 'vert which would give open top motoring as an added bonus. I'm thinking maybe the 125i (actually 3 litre engine) vert is a very good option - just needs to be specced right to look a little less girly!! Alternatively I'll just get the 320d remapped and put things off for another 6 months.....

When I look at how often I drive the car hard its probably 5% of the time, so more power is a bit of a vanity thing. |

what about a 123d (remaped you can get 250bhp and so much torque) and still get 45mpg on a/b roads, 50+ on the motorway, £120 road tax.
get it in the coupe and you have a right sporty looking number that goes like stink. if you need something slightly bigger what about an alpina, uses the same engine as the 123d (ok pay abit more but you have something very special). |

40.9.....get up to mid 40's on a run, but around town and commuting, more like 39.....better than the pre ED E90 manual I had though, that averaged 37...and no, I'm really not that heavy on my right foot....

Hmmmm well, after a day spent with a 1'er convertible......I was quite impressed with it. It was fun, roof down was great, and I was surprised at how unobtrusive the diesel engine was......but......
I got back in the E92 and it just felt so much more grown up....and it looks so much nicer (imo).....so.....gave it a bit of love this weekend! Soooooo...looks like a remap is in order......if only Evolve wasnt so far away...
