Hey guys,

going to be getting 19'' Alufelgen SF-71, Hyperblack, put on my base model 2007 4dr 328i.

I will not be lowering the car.

I was wondering how these tires hold up for all season driving and in general, would these tires be a good recommendation?

I have them on right now. 12k miles on them so far, nothing bad to say about them. The only thing that might bother people is that it has a soft sidewall but It doesn't bother me.
Grip is excellent too

Why is having a soft sidewall a bad thing? Do you run into problems with a soft sidewall?

I don't mean to sound like I have no clue, its just that I'm trying to gather more information, as I have done so the past 2-3 years on this great forum.

I've got a pair of these in 265/35-19 size. They're nearly brand new. I took em off the car shortly after I got it.

Had them on my E46 for 3 years and loved them. Great grip for an AS tire, comfy ride, good handling, long tread life, and quiet. Did amazing in the wet, and very well in the snow for an AS tire (obviously doesn't compare to snow tires).

Literally the only complaint I have about them is that if you don't drive the car for a few days, your first 2-5 minutes (depending on temperature) the tires will be flatspotted and make a steady thump. This is just due to the softness of the tread, which is what gives it the great grip. Perfectly reasonable tradeoff IMO, and it only happened to me a dozen or so times over those three years.

Heard nothing but good things about the DWS but I personally opted for the DWs and have been extremely pleased. I keep a second set of wheels/tires for the winter because I don't trust all seasons in the snow, but depending on your location I think the DWS might get you home in a snowy pinch but don't plan on driving around town in the snow with all seasons and RWD.

Thanks for the response guys! Seems like I have picked out my tires!

However, the tread life stated is about 6yrs/50,000 miles, but it says the rear will have about half that tread life if the size is different from the front.


I will be running:

Front: 235/35ZR19
Rear: 265/30ZR19

Based on the recommended set up from Alufelgen. Is that correct?

These tires are on my e36 m3 and for people who know that car well its one of the best handling cars out there. I drive my M3 aggressively when I do drive it and its been nothing but fun. Tires are quiet I have a vert so I can tell and they are good in the rain as well. Honestly at times I try to peel some rubber on the turns and it grips like no other... Amazing tire.

This is the only tire I would get for my car.

I have DW contis on my E90 since I have a dedicated winter set.

Wow...my only experience with these was on my 07 G35s and they were like riding on balloon tires. size 245/45-18s felt so bad I returned them...

I had read so many good reviews on them too... I had a set of G-max tires with lots of tread left on the front and I thought my worn rear tires were making a howling noise. I replaced them with the DWS and the balloon feeling was awful. I also realized it was the fronts that were howling so I replaced all four with 970AS bridgestones and was very happy with those.

Maybe it was the soft tire with the stiff front that made it feel so bad but I would not take the chance on them again.

They don't have half the LIFE, they have half the WARRANTY if you're running a staggered setup. 2 reasons for this:

1) You can't rotate to even out wear front to rear, so life will be somewhat lower all around.
2) The type of driver likely to run wider tires at the rear is the same type of driver who is likely to get on it more often than average, which in turn can lead to lower treadlife

They just don't want to pay to replace tires for people who do smoky burnouts all the time. If you don't drive like a maniac, treadlife should be fine. Might not be 50k, but you'll do alright.

FWIW, my SF-71s shipped yesterday, and I'm planning on getting PSS's in the exact sizes you specified to wrap them with.

For an all-season, they're about as good as you'll get for sure.

The DWS is known for having pretty soft sidewalls, so that's probably what you were experiencing. The performance for the price is great though!

If you are used to a RFT, the DWS's softer sidewalls may impart a slightly "mushy" feel on initial turn in. This does not affect the grip or handling characteristics (which are excellent for an A/S tire) and may be somewhat ameliorated by adding about 2~3 psi over stock.

Given the performance and price, the DWS is probably one of the best tire values available.

Yes for an all season these are my number 1. Not summers though. Michelin PS2s are probably my favorite.

My only concern with Michelin tires they don't stretch easily. They actually are the fattest sidewall I've had. I run very aggressive wheels and probably ill go from a 265 to a 255 with those tires.

So, if these tire specs are a staggered set up, then should I be running a set up where all the tires are the same and the wheels are also the same?

What would be the advantages/disadvantages of doing that?

They definitely don't stretch that well, I agree.

Wait for the new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 to come out in the next couple months. I have the DWSs and would not buy them again for the issues already listed above.

DWS's are very narrow. My 235's and 265's seem to be 205 and 245 on 8.5'' and 9.5''. But overall, they are very good. Around 25000 miles on them and the fronts still look brand new but not the rears with their 4 or 5/32''. Will buy another set anytime. But will be 245/275.
