John said there are "lucky and unlucky" clients, that's all. There is a possibility that one day I might get bad service from Canbec... He said he worked for both. He didn't name the Audi dealer. I appreciated his post, and it is in response to the posters that are bad mouthing the dealership. |

Woodpeka I'm also a Bimmer guy and before working for Canbec I too had a strong negative vibe with Canbec plus my own personal bad experiences with them. I had actually banned Canbec and swore never to return! But as soon as they hired me I spoke directly to the boss (even during my interview) concerning all the negativeness surrounding Canbec and the fact that I knew more about the product than half their sales team (at the time) was not impressive.
My concerns were quickly answered and changes were made...it's a slow process but it was better (when I left). Being at Canbec we would usually get the clients that were dissatisfied with Laval and West Island BMW's so its hard to say why or if Laval is better with loaners, maybe they have more of them or better management? Not really sure. I only have a small experience with Laval (went there 3 times) 1st time I was very satisfied, second time it was ok and I had big problems with 2 employees the third time, it actually was so insulting that I'm currently debating weather or not to report these people to the owner/president but that's insider stuff wich would not affect customer service however I did start questioning the hiring policies of the all mighty Laval dealer. As for the languages most Canbec guys speak English yet are bilingual and speak French too...one or two have a hard time speaking or writing either languages wich is quite embarrassing. 335BBS, how did I bad mouth the competition or mock customers?? That really is not my intentions. If anyone chooses to badmouth a dealership I can understand but please make sure your complaint makes sense....unlike someone (don't remember who) wrote that once they left Canbec the TPMS light came on and had to return to Canbec to check if the car had a flat so Canbec sucks!! or someone with a jobber exhaust... he should realize that changing a muffler changes pressure in the whole exhaust! Make sure you're not at fault before badmouthing dealers or anyone else. I'm new to this site and the purpose of my posts are simple; I have always and will always be a bimmer and car guy and before working in the field I would go to dealers and rate them according to my experience and satisfaction...Now it's easier for me to understand and see both sides so I can help clarify a few things and help owners understand or realize things that may not be so obvious. BTW my real name is not John |

No offense, but you are the kind of people that make me want to change dealers. I really, really can't stand people that invent arguments (and straw men) to support their flawed logic. Your points #1, #2 and #7 are correct. #3 is not quite; I have had better service with loaner cars than a number of people with far more cars than I owned. I was just nice to people and made friends. How many cars did you have plated JUST for you because no other BMWs were on the lot? I did. #4 is an excuse, and #5 is bordering on criminal misinformation. BMW *cannot* void your warranty because of unrelated mods. This is in consumer law, and people such as yourself propagate this misinformation to literally scare your customers into behaving the way you want them to. The way you state it, a suspension modification allows BMW to void engine warranty, and a muffler modification would allow them to void the HPFP recall on the 335s. This is completely false and is clear indication of a general lack of technical and, more importantly, procedural knowledge. Please don't do this. Be honest with your clients and explain to them their rights - not just the marketing drivel BMW wants you to tell them. I've seen your internal memos where they threaten warranty voiding for "any" mods. That's bs. They are fully within their rights to void warranties on relevant modifications (chip your car, void the engine warranty), but not beyond that. I cannot comment on #6. As for #7, you are defending the dealer more than you need. Even though, as I said, I am friendly with Canbec and would buy from them again, I have had cases where they did such a shitty job on something that I had to try really hard not to come back and yell at them. They replaced my shifter assembly at one point, and when they put the center console back on, they accidentally trapped the seatbelt receiver UNDER the center console on the passenger side. So obviously, when my passenger got in, their first reaction was "where the hell do I plug in the seatbelt?!". Like, really. This didn't even need a test drive. So don't overdefend them. They have good people working there, but sometimes they do sloppy jobs, which ties into your #8 but is nevertheless completely inexcusable. It's one thing if a somewhat complicated defect was missed during reassembly that surfaces "during highway driving", and it's another when the seatbelt assembly vanishes, the muffler is loose, etc. Not that there are many of those, I'm just saying that those are indefensible.

You guys wont believe this.
I was actually contacted by a high level employee at Canbec asking me to take down this post a few months back (I created the thread). I have no idea how they got my cell number but I'm assuming they digged up some photos I posted and matched the license plate to my number in their files. The purpose of this thread was to get steam off my chest and also bring up serious issues regarding Canbec. Canbec just feels like it isn't well managed, nor properly run. Comparing them to Laval's dealer would simply be wrong. This thread has high google SEO, if you type BMW canbec it was the 3rd post at one point, I'm assuming this is why they asked me to take it down. Although it has faded onto page 2, I assume it will go back to page 1 soon enough. I'm keeping this thread bumped and alive, the hell I went through with this dealer now seems unimaginable. I'm sire there are many talented people that work at Canbec but it's a shame the rotten one's ruin it for them. |

I actually switched from Park Avenue to Canbec because of multiple (read way too many) bad experiences with Park Avenue service department. I did try Laval and was happy with the service, but it was just too far for my convenience (I live and work on the South Shore). So far I have been happy with how I have been treated at Canbec. Yes, I have recently had a technical misshap with them, but they were very apologetic about it and made everything right. Mistakes happen, customer service is how you react and fix them.

Why didn't I find this before purchasing a vehicle from Canbec ...
To say I am displeased with my after sales service would be a huge understatement, they have no after sales service. I have had the car for a week (yes only one week), I have yet to check out there service department. So how is it possible that I am furious with the dealership? Simple no one will return my phone calls, not the sales rep and not the sales manager! I have 2 little problems that should be easily rectified, but no one is willing to call me back! I have called the sales rep 5 times in one week and 0 calls back (and yes he is working), and then I got pissed off and called the sales manager (2 messages for him and no call back). Let me tell you I am not a first time BMW owner and I have purchased a lot of new cars over the last 35 years and while there are sometimes issues (I had a car break down 5 min after picking it up once), it is how a company deals with the issues that is important. A dealership that completely ignores you after you have cut them a check! I don't think I could be more disappointed and angry. |

Sorry for the follow on but I am still steaming!
When it comes to spending BMW$ for a car you expect a certain level of service, I honestly think I am a very easy going and relaxed customer... but I really hate being ignored. Canbec has a beautiful showroom and gives you every expectation of a premium level of service, but what you get it less than what you would expect from buying a 10yr old Honda civic from a curbsider. If I could I would drive my car back to the dealership and give it back, as it is I will be going somewhere else for service and will never visit there dealership again. |

Canbec BMW: Customer Service = 0
As an update now that 3 months have gone by and I have had sufficient time to calm down… I am still livid!
I am have had a few additional interactions with the dealership since the initial purchase (I am bringing the car for servicing elsewhere) and every time I have contacted my salesman it has been like puling teeth to get a reply and you need to jump around to make sure promises are fulfilled. I am so very displeased by this dealership and the lack of service I received during my purchasing experience. It is not the first time I have been upset after making a purchase however it is the first time after making a purchase at what appears to be a legitimate company would not act on complaints brought to the attention of management. In the end it would appear that the old adage buyer beware is still as apt today as ever. |
