Obviously they are a different price-range. The Burberry I can buy now (~$700)... the Tag I would need to save up for (~$2100). So, the question is... is it worth saving up for?

What do you guys think? Right now I have a nice TX T3C313, but the band has ripped and I'm told that I can't get a factory replacement band for it. So, I'm looking to replace that watch altogether.
At the end of the day, the choice all comes down to you. You're the one who has to live with it day to day.

That being said. One is a fashion piece and the other is a watch you're going to want to care for and take with you for years.

I look at is as, one is a brand that makes pieces of clothing, the other only does watches. So if you want something that is style and possibly out of fashion in 2 years, with the expectation of moving on to another similar watch, then go Burberry.

But if you are serious about watch collecting and wanting to have a collection that will still have value a years down the road, its better to save up and get the tag.

Also, if you want the tag more then the BB but the BB is what you can afford now. Definitely wait because every time you purchase that way, you're just making it take longer to get to be able to afford the one you really want in the end.

Just my 2 cents

I have about 10 watches under 500$ (US) and a couple under 1k US. And I won't buy anymore like that as I've realized they are all watches I wear for a year or two and get bored of. I've now started saving up and searching for watches I'll still be wearing when I'm 50-60 and pass on to my kids one day (when I have some)

Just depends what route you want to take really. You're at a fork in the road

Btw. Never ask someone with a Rolex for the time. It'll be wrong.

Classic Rolex Sub Date (1680). It was expensive but thankfully didn't cost $234k!

I'm not so sure I'm a watch collector. When I think of collectors I think of people who don't actually use the item. I wear a watch every day so I want something that'll last, not get ruined easily, looks good, etc. The TX I have works great, but now with an aftermarket band, it doesn't look that nice.

Right now I have an old ESQ that I'm using until I buy a new watch. If I have to wait until next summer/fall to buy a nice watch (e.g. Tag), I don't think I can handle wearing this ESQ until then... hehe.

yeah, that's true... and I agree with you when it comes to most things. But, $2k+ is a lot for a watch, imo.

Nice Glashütte.

My husband got me into watches. My first automatic is German made too:

OP, there are several threads about watches already. Your thread is probably going to be moved once an administrator sees it. That said, I never get tired of seeing mechanical beauties.

Lol, I deleted my post because I'm into watches and I just looked at the pretty pictures and then posted mine. After I went back up to read the posts and found out there was already ongoing threads so I'll probably repost on one of those.

I like the German aesthetic and that's a nice piece. Did you pick it or did he?

it is a lot, but if you want something that's going to last. Automatic watches don't take batteries, and if maintained well, you'll still be wearing it when you're 65. I can't say the same thing for the Burberry.

I could be wrong though.
Also, you can't be a Doctor and wear cheap watches

I do see where you're coming from however. Both would be fine choices, but I can see you replacing the Burberry in about 2 years once the battery dies and annoys you.

how are you liking the speed pro? I was considering this for a future watch. If I do so, i was going to go for the special edition that commemorates the apolo 13 landing.

Yes, post yours up again on one of the other threads if you'd like!

I also like the German aesthetic and I also like how they're not very well known (apart from very high quality brands, like your Glashütte). So they can have a lot of value for the $, as compared to some Swiss brands.

I picked it out myself, after a relatively long search. I'm picky like that but I also find there are not many nice women's automatics to choose from. (I understand, it's the market.) You guys are lucky!

just 2 more quick points i'd like to point out.
1. have you tryed both on?
2. I guarantee you'll be able to get talk them down to less then 2000 unless you're buying it inside of a mall, unless that's already a severely marked down price. A lot of high end watches you can usually get about 20% off of, sometimes more.
