Hi,

been on stage 1 + for quite a time now. I am thinking of doing an exhuast mod and while i am at it, i am thinking if getting the secondary cat delete. It will be cut and weld a new pipe on. Would you recommend to run stage 2 map since i got 2 of 4 cats off? or it's a nono since the restriction is still applied too close to the turbo?

Stg2 maps with OE downpipes in place is

Oh no no list.

Don't do it, egts will get too hot and things will go south from there. Anyways, the Stg1+ maps you're running right now are stronger. So there's no point.

This is a response to track this issue.

All Fuel Injectors were replaced by BMW once I noted that at cold start the car sounded rough. I had no miss-fire codes either, but that diagnoses was there. The car had Mixture Control Code also, this lead them to believe all injectors had to be replaced.

As part of the service they also replaced the spark plugs during warranty procedure.

It took an additional 6k miles for the problem to be noticeable enough in Stage 0 from code coming up in Stage 2+ for reference.

I just got the Cobb V3 about a week ago, and flashed Stage 1 Sport maps to the car.

Could some one take a look at my log and let me know how it looks? I'm pretty new at this but I'm learning it slowly. The log was taken in 3rd gear with a little bit of 4th gear as well, 91 octane. Link: http://datazap.me/u/mycarhasredwheel...little-bit-4th

If I'm correct, It looks like it is overshooting the boost targets in some places pretty badly, which is causing throttle closures. The car has brand new turbos on it, with about 2,000 miles on them, so that I'm assuming thats why.

I am not sure about the rest of the log though. If someone could take a look at it and let me know I would appreciate it!

I have seen cars blow up on dyno lately and after that I changed my mind and went with P and L. I let you know after 11th of Nov.

Anyway I really need to learn how to do this tuning my self but not on my car LOL.
OK Got my tune at P and L, they flew in a guy that goes by "Junior" and he spent a good amount of time tuning my car. I didn't want anything that would blow my engine anytime soon and wanted a good map for the track, constant abuse of the turbos and engine, and also good for daily driving. Reliability / Consistency and no timing pull was #1 for me so thats what he tuned my car for. The result for my 93 Octane map is 380 HP to the wheels and 423 Torque. He did about a dozen pulls and constant power results. All the torque kicks in at around 2300 RPM all the way up to 6500 RPM as I wanted . So when i shift i'm always in max power band. You can't beat that. I have reached my goal and some. My main goal was to get more out of this then Stock e92 M3 + some and thats exactly what I got. e92 M3 stock is about 345 HP to the wheels and a lot less torque + add 200 lbs extra on car weight. In addition to the tune, my throttle sensitivity was programmed to be between ST and LT throttle and it is perfect. You can now modulate the throttle better which = better control. Highly recommend Junior he really knows his stuff and P and L Motorsports they are really cool people go and you won't be disappointed. Oh ya price was $650 but I think it's well worth it considering that your engine is the most pricy part of the car.

PEACE! Now off to my e46 M3 project .........

help with codes

Hello , so im ripping it on the road yesterday racing the new 640 4door,
and all of a sudden my car service engine soon light came on just blinking ,
pulled over and checked the codes
im running the e30 map

P30BB ( injector, power level 2 )
P29D1 ( misfire, cylinder 5 )
P29D2 ( misfire, cylinder 6 )
P29D2 ( misfire, cylinder 4 )
P29CC ( misfire, MORE cylinders )

yesterday i also got a few more .. .i dont recall what they were
i know it was lambda something, about catalytic converter
and i also got one about a boost leak ,

i freaked out and reset the codes and changed the map back to stock to see if it would remedy things, .. now the codes above is all im getting

engine sakes really bad, and exhaust is giving a baffling sound

anyone can help me as to where to start with this ?
im running the NGKs 1step colder for over 3 months with 0 issues the car runs amazing with them, and changed one of the coils , thus far
ive checked the charge pipe, vacuum hoses , didn't see anything with the naked eye, but was just a quick scan ,
also there's no black smoke, grey, white or blue smoke coming out the exhaust,
im hoping its somethign simple like the HPFP or an injector or 2...but
would 1 or 2 bad injectors really cause misfire in all cylinders, ?
and if it was the HPFP ..wouldn't i get a code about it ? ..the car starts
so its getting fuel, but what im assuming is perhaps its not getting enough fuel ?

What is the age of your ignition components?

Log it and post that and the accompanying codes. Well don't log if you think it is truly dangerous to do so, misfires feel like the world is going to end but they're not a BIG deal in and of themselves.

plugs are brand new, there have been a few coils changed when it was under warranty dont recall any injectors being chagned, but everything is pretty much life of the car so far, its 07 and has 68k miles,
lol im honestly scared to mess up anything else, does it need to be a WOT log? i took it out for a little drive this AM to see if it will throw any more codes, but i didnt get on it .. prob about 15mph at most

i found this http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showth...d=1#post289028

which is pretty much the same predicament im in , however.. changing DME for something liek this i sure hope was a bit excessive,

i have the BMS o2 sensor fix piggybacking on the DME, when i just had downpipes installed ... now that i have the COBB, i know its not needed, but i havnt taken it out anyone know if that will throw codes on the COBB
?

Wait you have DPfix in? Take it out now. Duh. It causes some strange adaptations and biasing if you DD with it. Your trims are likely wacky.

Garage List
I bet you felt awful pulling over like that and allowing the 640 to "win". My father told me a similar story in 1980 when he was in his 320i and the Mustang was forced to pull over due to a mechanical failure. Bummer.

Hey, guys, driving home today(no WOTs, just regular driving) got half an engine with 29cf and 29f2 codes. I have new plugs with less than a mile, stg 2+ aggr with VRSF dps, 7" FMIC, ETS CP with TiaL BOV, AFE stg 2, BMW PE with 2nd cat delete.

HPFP has been replaced about 10k ago and the car has just under 22k miles. What could that be? I read that the code is thrown sometimes if tune has been altered, but it was not. Any help is appreciated, I cleared it for now.

Sounds like you might need a HPFP.

My car is in at the dealer right now.
Ran rough, half engine, threw similar codes.
This will be the 4th HPFP in my car......

I'm starting to hate my e90.

I had a similar issue. I removed the Cobb AP and I am now running the stock tune and I don't have any issues. I am glad I didn't go crazy replacing parts and wasting money to fix/replace something that was not broken

^^ thank you guys. So should I check Injector for the third cylinder since that is the one throwing the code?

Car is still under factory warranty till Dec 22 and than CPO, but I'm not sure if I will have time to take all the mods off before that.

From this, it sounds like you're clearly having something fueling related. Recently my car was having trouble cold starting and constantly running lean, no matter what tune (from my PROtune to the Stage 0/Stock Map). Turns out I needed 6 new injectors since I had the original ones in from 2008. Fuel trims are always in check and it's now running super smooth.

If someone has INPA, then can check if the injectors are operating within acceptable range. If you have Warranty (especially the original manufacturer warranty), get that car in a dealer ASAP so you could possibly have any repairs covered.

Any idea if the dealer you're going to use is mod friendly? Some dealer's in the Tri-State hate mods, others don't mind as they're clearly not responsible for any of the failures/have been installed correctly.

Thank you. Decided not to risk it and coinsedentially I had enough free time at work to remove and put stock intake/DPs/CP and reflashing the EVU back to stock. Car is at the dealer now, we'll see.

I dropped it off at Tenafly, last time I did it the car had Vanguard exhaust, intake and suspention and they did not say anything.

Good luck. I've used Morristown/Open Road and as long as the tune isn't installed, they've never given me any trouble.

Tinkering around with DashWare this morning, I added a new logging parameter to my usual track layout, Load Req. & Load Act. Not sure if it adds any value to the video, but I thought it might be interesting to see. All the positional data in the vid was logged with my AiM SOLO GPS, but I used the COBB for all the engine data.

I'm also working on an overlay with the default logging parameters, I'll post an example once I go out and do a pull. My temps are unusually low in this video for a track day because it was only 37 degrees outside
