ACURA Drivers
I've been driving my new BMW for about two weeks now and I am loving it .. one thing I noticed though is a certain hostility from ACURA drivers ... at several occasions I have been cut off or agressively tailgated by Acuras .. I am an average fast driver (I am certainly no slow obstacle to other drivers ..) .. so I don't understand what this is all about ... is there some secret "war" going on that I am not aware off?
Has someone noticed a similiar behaviour ? can someone shed some light on this ?

This goes for all makes and models. I get cut-eye from 3 series coupes and sedan drivers all the time when I'm not in the bmw. As for Acura drivers, it's usually the ones in old, rusty legends and the sort that like to provoke people... that's what I noticed.

I used to have a modded TL, and I didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary. Although, I must admit to occasionally provoking teenagers in 3s that actually thought their car was fast on anything besides corners.

I'm in the same boat, I had a modded TSX. Acuras have the contour lines similar to BMWs which is why you get generally the same "type" of person buying an Acura (Tsx & TL models) as you do 3 series Bimmers....just my opinion, but then again I am a service consultant at an Acura dealership

J/K.... I'll still admit you get more "toys" for the money with an Acura.

very true, plus I have the luxury of having techs nearby to help out with the little things---Lux2.0 (soon to be 3.0), other bulbs, etc

328Toronto, I share your pain. When I got my car, I thought all the hostility was purely coincidental; however, now I know that there's a greater tendency for certain aggressive Acura drivers to try and faze me.
I find that TLs and TSXs try to get me attention somehow by tailgating or cutting me off. To boot, I find that their headlights tend to spray all over the place and aren't as focused as a bimmer. I try to keep an open mind but now I'm convinced it isn't a coincidence.

I had an NSX for a few years. In general I like the way Honda products drive... they are fairly driver-oriented cars, some models more than others. I'd say its some of those properties that I find stronger in BMW so in that sense its a natural progression.
I can't see why people would be hostile because of the brand of car they drive. |

I am a ex-RSX-S driver. Just ignore the Acura people or all other drivers that tailgates you. If you react by going faster, then you fall into their trap..lol

Now that I think about it, i've been having odd experiences with middle aged people in MBs. I had someone in an E320 almost run me off the road, and I spent yesterday driving for 5 minutes with an SL500 an inch off my bumper in tunnel gridlock.

Not all Acura drivers are bad. Some become BMW drivers later in life!
I drove 2 Acura TLs before I got my 3 series. Good reliable cars. Just not as fun as the BMW. P.S. Trying to sell my 2002 Acura TL. $19,500. Black on tan. Auto. 51,000km. PM me if you want details. |
