HP Autowerks takes top spot in Las Vegas Redline Time Attack

Las Vegas, NV, April 25, 2010

HP Autowerks entered their third Redline Time Attack with a vengeance.
After a disappointing outing at the first RTA event of 2010 at
Buttonwillow, HPA got to work improving every aspect of their BMW 335i
Sedan in preparation for Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After many upgrades
which included suspension, cooling, and aerodynamics, the car was ready
to compete. HPA driver Jeff Tyler was at a disadvantage having never
driven the course, but after many hours of preparation, Jeff was ready
to tackle the challenge. HPA came out posting consistently low times in
qualifying, which landed them the #1 grid spot. With a best time of
1:48:285, HPA secured the first place spot in the Street RWD class, and
third overall in Street. HPA was only .794 shy of the overall Street
winner. HP Autowerks looks forward to Autoclub Speedway to defend their
podium finish.

There it is: P-1! After seeing your 335i in person, I'm not surprised at the result considering how well thought out the modifications are.

Congrats Harold, and great driving Jeff.

Good eye on the performance radiator, MteK - agreed on the drool factor.

Wait till you see the temp data!

Here is a video I put together. I am still 'refining' my video-editing skills, so the quality is not so great...

http://vimeo.com/11338902

Overall a fairly medium/low-speed track, although I never used 2nd gear. At the end of the back straight we hit about 130mph going into the fast right -- a very fun section of track! Also a fairly technical track, especially the final corners before the front straight -- these were lots of fun when you got them right.

Eh, HP Autowerks is ight. Just playing. I was pumped to hear the news the other day Harold! On a different note, I love the GIAC flash, it is ridiculous.

Anyone need anything, contact Harold, he is bomb. He is also single. ha.

The Camaro is a drift car, and Redline has a class specifically for Drift cars. I'm not sure what tires it was on, but it ran a 1:46.7. It sounds absolutely wicked. And it's driven by the very-capable Conrad Grunewald.

Yeah...that is the driver alright...it was the car at SEMA too. My friend Luke Lonberger was one of the builders. I think the drift guys use T1Rs...not sure though.

We are in the final stages of fitting to automatic 335i's. Once that is done the manual transmission version will be release first via a group buy then the auto version. The more people we can get on the group buy the better the price. We are potentially looking 1-20 as the first price level, then 20+ for a discounted price.
