Can we code out the bulb check to stop AE LED's flickering on startup?

If anyone is in lower westchester, NY and wants to come up, I will help you code your car and we can test other options.

I'm out of town at the moment but I live in Brooklyn. At some point we can get together and try out some coding.

Hi DimSum-san,

Thanks.
You write good Japanese. Hahaha!

Let me clarify.
What I want to do is... activate Angel Eye DRL on my J-spec E92 and disable AE bulb check.

To activate DRL, I found "DAY_RUN_LIGHT_CCC in CAPPL (nicht_aktiv->aktiv)" may work.
I could not figure out which one in the code list would work to disable only AE bulb check on startup.
I am going to get AE LEDs but I heared most of them generate flickering on startup which is regarded as illegal in Japan.
In Japan, all AE LED products with flicker issue have banned from the market. A few remnants are doing pretty well but they do not support DRL with full +12V input or they are not bright enough for DRL use.

See my thread below;
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469626

My EBD2 cable is on the way from Hong Kong.
I may give PM to you when it's delivered.

I put the attached document together that might help you or others who are having issues. I too was confused when trying to configure the settings that were documented in the DIY. My settings are shown like yours, not like in the DIY.

Hey,
Looked at the PDF you made and I still cant connect. I changed to my COM from 1 to 10 and still couldnt find one that used the serial.sys. I sent my problem to the company where I bought the cable from and this is the answer they gave me:

"You will need to check Ediabas.ini and obd.ini files and make sure your settings are correct there.
Once confirmed you need to make sure that you have latest ISTA software loaded in to your INPA and Ediabas (ECU folder) and NCS expert. Also make sure that all of them are the same versions.
Now finally start any software in Windows XP emulation mode.
The errors I see (your pictures) are most probably because of the wrong data files you use for your coding. You need to get at least ISTA 32 (complete) and load it to the BMW Tools in order to get everything work correctly."

I dont really know exactly what theyre saying. So far they have been pretty helpful, lets see if they see this till the end. I feel like everyone is just plugging in and going and for me its been a 3 week headache. Im thinking it might just be easier for me to go buy a 32bit xp netbook and go from there.
Any suggestions?

Toshi-san,

Most AE LED Angel Eye do not flicker. They only flicker on start-up, after 温水 they will not flicker. If you wish to not have them flicker on start-up I can teach you some coding which will fix the flickering. The coding will be a リューション to the ちらつき.

I will teach you how to 有効にする DRL not from CAPPL. You can 有効にする
through NFRM モジュール.

When your cable has arrived, feel free to pm me.

Or maybe change to HID angel eye, if LED not allowed.

You mean we can activate DRL from NFRM too then LEDs do not flicker on startup?
Good to hear that.
Then I can use LUX H8 without violating the Japanese law. (I know it's a stupid rule.)

Mine is MY2008 E92 and it must have FRM2 not the latest FRM3.
And also I don't know whether BMW has wired AE correctly for DRL on J-spec E92.

We will see when the cable has arrived.

What module do I change for welcome lights or for having my stock XENON/HID act as DRL lights?

What is the stock welcome lights right now? What have people done as far as changing them?

Yep.
You cannot flash any lights except turn indicators. They must be orange and flash at designated intervals.

Japan is very strict country.
You need to have your car get government inspections every two years and you would give up your number plates if your car is against the standards of safety.
Not only at the periodical inspections, police may give you a ticket on the road if they suspect your car is against the standards. (They have various handy analyzers or tools in police car.)

Do you think it's ridiculous, huh?

No shit. Ayashii... I know about the shaken, but the flicker??? wtf. You know... that makes me wonder, how the hell do the VIP cars pass inspection? They are FAR from being normal. What with the quad 2 meter exhausts and ridiculous camber and all.

re: number plates - yeah i used to think those were for diplomats' kids or something, i would be like "red bar across the plate - must mean OUTSIDE THE LAW".... then i found out it was for cars that failed inspection. i was like, HAHA.

Seems you know well about the "Shaken" system.
Yes, the flicker has recently become a subject of the inspections.
Most VIP-style cars cannot pass the "Shaken" so they restore the car back to normal before the inspection or ask underground agency.

"Red bar across the plate" means new car before the "Shaken" or "under corrective work after rejected" and you must return the temporary plate within 5 days.

Sorry for off-topic.

Bugger... I was doing so well with the coding until I installed my Procede N55 yesterday... now I only get this error: ERROR_ECU_INCORRECT_RESPONSE_ID

I tried turning off the CANClear function and setting it to Map0 but still getting the error... I really don't want to take it apart again just to play with coding... too much work :-\

You know - it might be related. I have seen this happen, and I think it might mean really having to remove the Procede. I'd mail shiv and ask him... if you do get a reply - can you post back?

Yep! After a few emails with Shiv it turns out that the N55 v4 Procede still talks to the CAN even in Map0 and CANClear turned off. He's going to try fixing that in a new v5 version. I'll post back the results... the N55 version is too much of a POS to remove just for coding, so I hope his fix works!
