Walnut Blasting - Anyone used Main dealer?

I found on a Mini Forum main dealer prices for this.

But everyone I have seen here has been specialists?

Bit confused as to what information you're trying to gather with your question buddy?

Use whichever option is cheapest and easiest for you, it's really as simple as that..as the end result should be the same.

Some main dealers actually do not have the equipment some dealer groups share the machine around some service advisors don't know what the process is as we discovered last year while we were awaiting our machine, when we enquired they didn't have a clue even though they'd had the machine for several months.

But most now should know what this is all about, but you may have to educate them

Shoot me down if need be...

Would walnut blasting ever get done under any type of BMW warranty? Or would you have to be having serious engine problems for them to entertain it?

I think they would just replace the injectors...

Vines BMW in redhill do it at very competitive prices, £350 I believe for a 6 cylinder as dp chandlers in Brighton for about the same, considering all the reputable indies are about 100 miles plus from me I am seriously consider dropping the car off at the dealership. Both very good dealerships mind u

I am still doing some reading up on if it is required for an N55, lots of reviews seem to suggest it is a non issue on an N55 due to valvetronic

The point is it is always worth checking at ur local dealership, they are not much more expensive than Indies

This was why I was asking as dealership 3 miles away the specialists on here are much further with potential for overnighter.

The main point is they know what they are doing.

Another plus would be as I have extended warranty if anything was broken or needing replaced Mr Warranty would pay.

I don't see why a walnut blast wouldn't be required on an N55 because it's a direct injection engine just like the N54. AFAIK Audi are the only ones who have developed a DI engine which doesn't suffer as it injects some fuel into the intake to help with fuel wash.

From my experience main dealers don't have the knowledge on the N54 and say it only really impacts Mini's...

To be honest I'd trust someone like Steve over a main dealer to do a decent job anyway!!
