I love the design of this Jet, but i wonder if the tech is as impressive as the ones you guys mentioned?
Also this is the one that Jeremy & May spotted a topgear episode I THINK, they laughed at how they were 'not meant to have seen it', being all stealthy looking and everything... |

lol hadn't seen you'd created this thread chappers! Interesting reading the posts.
I was part of Eurofighter Typhoon design and support, worked with thousands of colleagues across different nations on it and was on base with the RAF for operations. My background also includes stealth design of aircraft and UAVs, flight testing and maritime patrol and recon aircraft. Like I said...interesting reading this thread |

Actually the Brits were first with the jet engine but didn't deploy it during the war.
Germans also had better helmets for shrapnel protection, had first guided cruise missle, first apc, developed combined arms warfare (blitzkrieg), first paratroopers I believe. They failed in making equipment easily producable, repairable, didn't use firebombing, didn't develop long range bombing, didn't believe engma could be cracked, ignored raf radar sites, ad sucked strategically vs Russians due to Hitlers micromanagement. |

Guided cruise missile? If you mean the V1, it was't guided. It's gyroscope kept it level, but you had to point it in the direction you wanted it to go in. I think the lack of development of a long range bomber showed the the Germans never had a desire to actually invade the UK. Medium bombers would have been sufficient in Russia as they would have had plenty of land to build runways.
Didn't Enigma only get cracked because we got hold of a device? The Germans had the most gifted generals of that generation. Thankfully they were hampered by the moron in charge. |

I mean the Fritz x, anti ship bomb. Guess it wasn't a missle but it was guided.
Hitler never had real plans to invade Britain. Long range bombers would have helped fighting britian and the eastern portions of the USSR. Yes, enigma was cracked because they had one. But you shouldn't put your full faith in even an "unbreakable " code snd you should test your code periodically with false trackable Intel. |

Chappers it's far more interesting reading others' posts!
I'd just end up lecturing/educating on the realities of aircraft design and performance and nobody wants to hear that! Seems like you're all aircraft enthusiasts though, check out my photography page you might like some of the pics Hoping to buy a better lens in the future https://stylelife.smugmug.com/Aircraft/ |
