90-93 Acura TL's came from the factory with HID's and reflectors.

This is mainly a safety concern. People putting in aftermarket HID's with the modules zip tied wherever with 25,000 volts coming out of them that can kill people.

Get into an accident and that voltage can run into the body and kill emergency workers.
Using zip ties in itself isn't an issue. Many licensed mechanics, electricians, and other smart qualified people rely on these to secure and fasten things from time to time. Sure, loose zip ties can cause issues, but that's more a workmanship issue than the fastener itself (no different than a loose bolt).

HID kits ultimately consist of the same parts as OEM HID, so as long as the installation is done properly, there shouldn't be any issues. Not like OEM cars don't have ballasts or any other component found in aftermarket kits.

As for the Acura TL, they didn't even have those until 1995. Maybe you're thinking of a different car? Are you sure the reflectors weren't use for highbeams only? Many cars often have HID projects, but halogen highbeams.
I'm an Acura tech, I think I know what I mean.

+1 ^ Agree. There are different HID kits available in the market. Pay cheap and you get what the new rules should apply for, some of the better ones are better than the factory HIDS.
And these new rules ONLY apply when obtaining a Standards Safety certificate i.e. when the car ownership changes within Ontario.

"This Standard is intended to apply to light - duty trucks and passenger vehicles requiring the issuance of a Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) for the purposes of vehicle registration and/or transfer of ownership. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that the vehicle meets a minimum safety standard at the time of inspection."

Talking about HIDs...

I used to drive the RSX-S and I did a "proper retrofit" with e46 projectors! They looked awesome! Was done very well without blinding people!

But people with HID without using projectors should be pulled over!

What if someone has a 323 without projectors and HID but did a headlamp conversion from a 328. Technically chassis still the same and its considered OEM or "upgrade".

How about lowering cars with "Performance Springs/Shocks" it is still an option but not stock. Some of these upgrades are not in the VIN. Some of the cars has tons of options.

The Tint thing is annoying as slight tint on the front is nice.. I could see lots of tickets for this as its easy to catch.

So for older cars it's still ok to have tint? Is it completely restricted for new cars or you can have a very light tints? Realistically, I agree that completely blacked out cars are annoying for police and there are some situations where they need to see inside, but what's wrong with for example 35% tint that just gives a comfort for driver and protects from harsh sunlight?

The new tint laws only apply to cars built after Jan 1, 2016.

Hey guys from my understanding of this, it seems more for the safety inspection. I dont feel like it would drastically effect us unless we are selling our cars.

I cannot guarantee we wont be harassed as this is in the safety inspection standard that is part of the HTA.

So again this is at the cops discretion.

I don't understand how are they going to determine if the tint is aftermarket or not? What if I order it from the factory?

If there is a film, it is not factory.
