Awesome cars. I love the GTR but the R8 is so so sexy!!!!!!!

BTW, did anyone notice that the R8 V10 is cheaper then the 997.2 turbo PDK? R8 V10= 104K and 911 turbo PDK 116K?
HUH....PDK is that expensive for a turbo...?

R8 V10>911 turbo

Yes I would agree that the brakes fading so soon into the test was unfortunate but that is easily cured with the ceramics which are really necessary if you intend to track on a regular basis.

But did you actually listen to what was said about the R8, in Steve's opinion he felt that it would probably have been the quickest on the day with the right brakes and the right gearbox, plus it was the easiest to drive at the limit. To me that isn't a fail but an unfortunate spec choice by Audi on the car supplied.

P.S.
No one could possibly deny that the GTR is the knig when it came to value for money, it has shown all comers that they are all over priced for what you get.
ya gotta quit being so sensitive....
ok ok...the R8 is the greatest car ever created....all Audi's put BMW to shame...and Jag's are not for old people...they rarely have mechanical or electrical issues.....extremely reliable and cost of ownership is best of class!....JAG's are SMOKIN!

Color me geekie, but as much as I love the look of the R8, I'd take the GT-R.....I've seriously considered purchasing one, and it may be the next car in the stable.

Weird thing about the GT-R is that it is undeniably an awesome machine. Nissan did such a great job and if you only have $70k or so to spend on a pure performance car you simply cannot find a better one for the price. Weirdly I would have an M3 instead though. It is no where near the level of the GT-R and is really overpriced when comparing performance but it just looks so much more stunning than the Nissan and has more a sense of pantomime.

Of the 3 in this test I'd say your brain should pick the GT-R, your heart the R8, and your inner badge-whore the 911...

The only sensitive person in here is you. You take every chance to jump on Audis and offer sarcastic responses. And you think the GTR doesn't have its share of problems?

Doesn't the GT-R make up for its bargain price with the expensive service and maintenance?
I heard every service interval costs a few G's.
But then again, the maintenance is also expensive on other supercars.

2k every 30,000 km's or so.

Cost seems pretty minimal to me.

If money was no thing I'd probably take the Porsche

I'd rather have a Gallardo than the Audi

But since I am not a baller I will take the GTR

^^ when the 997 is modded correctly it looks real badass. its still subtle but people know your the boss.

r8 is the show stopper of the bunch and gtr is the best value.

porsche is probably the best daily though

dont know why but i have a thing for the 997's

I think you will find that to drive daily the R8 would be the better option because it's as easy to drive as an Audi is but I don't believe it would be that much better than the Porsche.

Agree, not knocking the GTR but there's a reason the GTR is less than both the other two cars. People who bitch/complain about being brand whores are just haters IMHO. It's like walking past a Hugo Boss store and complaining their suits are too expensive. There's a reason its expensive, you typically get what you pay for. But everything in life has to cater to peoples needs financially, aesthetically and performance (for autos). These 3 cars cater to 3 different people although they are being compared. The GTR is bang for the buck performance. Won't find anything as good for the price. So right off the bat, everybody knows budget is a determining factor. The Audi just has sex appeal, regardless if its brakes faded or not. This car is just made for people who typically don't care about tracks and 1/4 times. Made for those who just want to look good driving a sexy car.

The porsche is just prob. the most raw of the 3. Everybody know's how much they cost, and their performance as they've been around so long. Their looks haven't changed much, but they have race bred heritage.

I'd take any of the 3 but for me, I don't track or street race. I'd have to go w/ the porsche b/c to me brand/quality matters and they go hand in hand. I can't see myself sitting at a Nissan dealership for service....

I've been to a porsche service center and there's not a spec of dust inside their garage floors which are beautiful i might add. Call me pompous or a badge whore. But speed isn't the most imp. thing to me.

Some like the feeling of having a larger member knowing their cars faster around a track, others like the feeling their members larger b/c they have more $$ in the bank. I'm with the second category of people

Since I was the last person to kid about not being a bad whore, i suppose this piece of your response was (at least in part) directed at me. Before i respond, keep in mind that we both are 335 owners, so lets not pretend that one of us is more appreciative of quality than the other.

Nissan had the option of making the GTR an Infiniti, but chose to keep it a Nissan. I am glad they chose to do so because it keeps badge whores from buying the car. I have no qualms about someone deciding that they want to pay more money for a car because it has a certain quality that they want. However, i'm not fond of people getting cars (particularly performance cars) because they think it will make them look like they have class/money/success.

i dont really see infiniti as a brand that attracts badge whores. its more the people on the budget who dont care about stretching their wallet for a bmw or audi when they could just get the infiniti which is comparable.

i dont understand the whole badge whore thing. in reality who really cares what car you are driving. only people who are enthusiasts will really care anyways. and they will respect the gtr just as much as the 997.

out of all the three, I have to take the r8 v10 for it engine. i mean how can you not love that engine 8700rpm v10. but if I have the cash for one, I would get one in black, paint match the side panel, change the exaust to quad and louder, and change the rims to something less bling, swap to a better looking seat. then it will be a perfect supercar.

I prefer the look of the gtr over the turbo and it perform better is a plus, so gtr for me.
