someone keyed my hood,repaint?

hi,
removed the snow from my car today only to discover several "drawings" on my hood and also one scratch from left to right all acros the hood

the pictures dont show them so good but they are deep enough to feel them with my fingernails

is there any way to repair this or is a repaint nessecary?
dont know why people would do that to somebody

grtz.

no words to describe how you feel about that but this is what i feel about the person who did it.

:

Wash, Clay, if scratches are not too deep, then go dirent to wet sanding with 2000 grit sand paper, if scratches are deep then fill them with touchup paint, give it few days to cure then cover it with clear coat, give it few days to cure, Wet sanding with 2000 grit sand papaer, wash, clay,
With polisher first use compound,
swirl remover polish,
paint cleaner,
sealant, wax

ok,that sound rather difficult
i get the sanding and the touch up paint is just with a little brush,
but how do you manage to do the clear coat yourself?
does it come in spray cans or something?
but as its currently -7 here i guess i better wait a while before i start repairing

grtz

i would try to wetsand and buff that out a bit. Even if they are very deep you will level the scratches out alot. which will make it look a whole lot better.

Than two coats of was and one coat of sealent will help fill those scratches.

i work at a high end auto detailing place, we get this kinda of stuff a lot. We dont wetsand there but sh!t, buffing it with a 1200 grit type compound and than polishing should help out a lot and be wayy cheaper than a body shop.

Are you sure those scratches aren't from the snow turning into ice and rolling down your hood? Happened to me on my Acura.

Or what were you using to clean the snow off?

no,is not grom cleaning of the snow,i never use those ice scrapers and stuff like that,i used a little broom.

someone did that with keys or a knife or screwdriver, something like that.

for the moment its still freezing here so for the moment it's not the time to repair it

but thanx to everyone for the help already

Find a decent detailer in your area and let him have a go at it. I have seen them do some amazing work on paint

did you ask the shop you went to? I know some wont tell you anything because they think a detailer may be taking business away from them but I have talked to several that have recommended other options and people that are capable of doing the job

go to a good body shop. Its probably $200-$300 job... they need to take clear coat off. Do a little sanding, touchup and clear coat again. Some will tell you you have to paint the entire hood and blen in the fenders but thats far from truth. If you go to a good shop who knows what they are doing this is an easy fix.

Probably done by a kid that had metal clasps on his gloves. I hope the snowball was worth it.
