Visiting Sydney

I'll be in Sydney (first time south of the equator) next month and I am looking for a place to rent a cool car with manual transmission for a day or so and some cool driving routes/tips.

All the normal hire car mob are available (Avis, Hertz, Budget, Europcar) plus a few cheapies.

One drive you should not miss is up the coast on the North Shore up to Palm Beach, then to Church Point on Pittwater, North Heads etc.

When I look at those companies all I see are lowly Hyundais and micro cars. I want something like a diesel with a manual, not a frumpy car that's not fun to drive. I'll just stay in Sydney for that.

I checked the websites too and you are right, but I have seen them at the airport and hired them before. Perhaps they no longer do this, but Hertz was the best and it was called Hertz Prestige and they had bmw's, jags, etc. Maybe you gotta call them, or maybe they simply don't offer this anymore.

Europcar have a ton of audi's to choose from though. If you want a diesel I'm sure one of them can hook you up with a landcruiser?

Ha, nah...I have seen that the A3 TDI manual is the ONLY redeemable option from Europcar
