I have a e90 330XI and ordered koni FSD w/ eibach prokit yesterday. I have the 18" OEM staggered wheels on non RFT conti DWS tires. Would i need to purchase E36 M3 bump stops for the front? Which ones do I get for the rear? I now have a clear understanding of their purpose but still not sure which ones i need to order.

The stock bump stops from the MSport model will be fine, they're plenty short enough. I think it's the SE ones that have caused problems.

Or the E36 ones if you just fancy something a little more individual

Something seems off, I ordered the bump stops from FCPEuro.com and received this, the white one is the E46 Z4 (when I select E85 Z4 this is what I get) the orange one is the E36 M3.

from the pictures they seems right.
E36 M3 [front] 3133 2225 377

They're not handed, just buy 2 of each.

That's not right - they've either sent you the wrong part or you've given them the wrong part number. See my post above for the correct part number

I can find the front bushings online but I can't find the rear. Can someone pm me or post a direct link for the rear bumpstops.

Thanks!

So what is your setup?

Are you running springs + oem shocks + shorter bump stops?

Do shorter bumps tops negate the need or new struts?

Eibach Pro-Kit springs & Bilstein B4 Sport shocks

Shorter bump stops don't negate the need for new struts, they just compensate for the reduced suspension travel that is caused by fitting shorter springs.

As progressive as any other piece of foam... Definitely very comfortable.

IS the E36 M3 bump stops softer than the OEM XI bump stops?

No idea - and honestly, I can't imagine you'd ever be able to tell unless one was made of solid plastic and the other from cotton wool.

LOL. I ran the part numbers for E36 m3 and Z4m above and the E36m3 comes back as a Z3 bumpstop and the Z4m part number comes back as a non M Z4.

Am I the only one having bad results with E36M3 front bumpstops?

I have FK Coil overs lowered around 5mm lower than sport's height. The front bumpstops FK included were too tall and made the front choppy. I cut it and did gain some movement, but the ride wasn't right still.

Then I put E36M3 and I can tell I have way more shock travel than even these short bump stops suggests. However, the car ride too soft and really bouncy, no matter how much I adjust the shock stiffness. I feel like these are too soft and too short for our cars. I want to test stock E92 sport front bump stops trimmed ..

I have an MSport XI. If I go the Eibach/Koni route, I would want to get the E36 M3 and Z4M bump stops?

Are there any other parts necessary?

Just realized today that the "M" rear bump stops are indeed this part number - 33507836826

The part number in the page earlier is incorrect. it is for the Non M versions.

You need to call TC over @ TCKline racing and tell TC that I sent you.

They make custom shocks for the XI cars. Trust me. Its the only way. Because of our front axles the struts are shorter and no matter what bump stop you put in there, your going to be riding it non stop if you lower your car, there is less room in there than on the "i" models.

TCKline cuts the Koni yellows and lowers the perch whatever amount you want, and lowers the top whatever you want. Meaning you can gain travel back out of your suspension.

I just got mine made and nobody on the board new about this until 2 weeks ago when I ordered mine out of luck because I called about something else.

I ended up lowering on eibach pro kit, then got TC to lower the perch on a set of koni yellows .5 inch. That kills ALL rake from the XI. I also asked him to cut 1/2 inch from the top of the strut. That means I am lowering my car .5 inch, and gaining 1 full inch of travel. Putting it right back to where a "i" model would be.

Take my advise. Its the best, and ONLY solution. Bump stops alone will not help you. I have a bump stop that is shorter than anything you can buy and I hit it every day.

my .02 cents.
