Plugging a Run Flat Tyre. Yaay or Nay?
Dreaded red symbol of doom flashed up.
I pulled over and there was a screw in the o/s/r in the T zone. Since I was close to home I drove less than a mile on it. My understanding is that it should not be repaired if you have driven more than 50 miles. I am running on a Michellin Sport PS2 Zero Pressure tyres all round. It is a tyre in a tyre type design and not like a horrible Bridgestone which has reinforced side walls. There was no side wall damage to my tyre. At £244 fitted... a plug repair sounds better. My tyre has done around 3k miles at the moment and is down to 8mm on tread. |

Should be fine have done this before worth checking the inner face of the sidewall was damage as they fray badly if 'run on flat' for too long but as you say it wasn't for long shouldn't be an issue.

Some places can be funny about plugging a RFT if it has been ran for too long without air.
If it is shiny black on the inside instead of grey and has lots of small rubber balls inside it, they might not be willing to repair.
