Wanted: Android Smartphone
Bear with me on this . . . .
I do have a mobile, but it is third hand, and was made before the invention of mobile internet. However, the battery lasts a couple of weeks, and I don't use it that much, so I'll be sticking with it as my "main" mobile. BUT, I want a smartphone to run a navigation app for use on my trail bike. Obviously, I want something cheap as it will get knocked about a bit, and I don't think going to something like a Motorola Defy will be an advantage as it will be in a plastic "waterproof" mount. So, a call out to you guys who change phones every 3 years or so - I'm looking for something with a screen larger than 3.5 inches. Must be Android. Must have standalone GPS. I don't mind scratches and dings, but no cracks please - dust gets everywhere! Prefer something with a half decent battery, but no doubt these can be bought relatively cheaply, and I'll be running a power lead from the bike battery anyway. What have you got???? For those of you who think - why not just get a GPS? I need to have Ordnance Survey maps, and a standalone GPS with these on is at least £400 Thanks Mike |

I have an LG Optimus L3 E400 that is in mint condition - not a mark on it.
http://www.lg.com/uk/mobile-phones/lg-E400-optimus-l3 Metal chassis, so will take a fair beating if so required I'd imagine. Has all you are after, and the battery lasts for a good 2-3 days (primarily as it's not got a massive screen to be lighting up I'd imagine!) but the screen is only 3.2". Let me know if you're interested. Cheers |

I was going to sell my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (18months old) to a well known online mobile phone buyer next week.
http://www.handtec.co.uk/samsung-gal...FdPItAodQWIABA If you want it for the same £78 they are offering you are welcome to it Great condition bar small knock on one corner of case. Screen unmarked and pretty powerful phone. Should just keep it really but the lure of the 'upgrade' is just too strong LOL |

I have this:
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/phones/xperia-s/ amazing phone, great camera, works great, great screen quality, does everything you can think of. Yours for £80. Cosmetically it isn't great, there is a crack in top of screen not really noticeable (can be repaired). |

I have just bought a Huawei Ascend Y300 for my son. Since I already had a PAYG SIM from T-Mobile I got the upgrade price of £59.95. I also got £6 cashback via quidco.
So for £54 this is unbeatable and you have a new battery which should last well enough for you. http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mob...lourCode=WHITE |

Thanks Guys
I'll need to get my thinking cap on now! Huawei? You need the pronunciation hint on the ad! Otherwise it's Who Are We! Mike |

Mike,
I have a 3.5yo HTC Desire Android 2.2 which I haven't used for a year (locked on o2) spec here: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire-3077.php If that seems any good spec wise you can have it to see if it does what you want, if its no good for you, just post it back to me! I only want a few pints for it. It was a v popular phone so there's loads of mounts and cases available for it. Mike Last edited by doughboy; 10-25-2013 at 08:08 AM.. |

They aren't bad at all. A few small niggles, but for the price nothing comes close. |
