Tell-tale signs of piggyback use?
For those of you with JB3/Procedes, have you settled into the habit of removing/reinstalling your piggyback with each dealership visit? Has the install/removal become easier as you have performed it each time? I'd like to not have to spend an hour in my garage before and after each service visit...
And lastly, is it possible to remove/reinstall these piggybacks without tearing up your engine bay? For example, repeated opening up of the ECU box...can BMW techs see that this thing has been messed with from all the handling? |

After a service, I was inspecting my engine bay and I noticed that some of clips and the pieces that need to be removed to get to the ECU were not clipped in completely and were loose.
The dealership went on a fishing expedition to search for a piggyback tune on my car. Of course they didn't find anything, because I don't have a piggyback. I was fairly annoyed. All of this because the a Service Advisor had to do a drive along with me to check for some rattles. He thought the car felt stronger than stock and asked me if I had upped the boost on the car. I was completely stock at the time, but I guess he didn't believe me. |

LOL me too. Although I was 996 Turbo shopping until I saw that my insurance would go up $100 a month...
This is the best car for me until BMW makes turbo M3s. GT-R - way too expensive, Nissan gets hard-ons voiding warranties Z06 - Can't drive it year-round - would need a DD beater E92 M3 - no torque, gas guzzler 997 S - performance doesn't match cost 335 is such an amazing value, I'm an idiot for even considering selling it. |

It does get easier (and more enjoyable) every time I go in to remove and reinstall the piggyback. Also, it was a good time to upgrade to 2.0, hookup map switching for the vent gauge and run the usb cable into the glovebox. Since mine was a demo I could always claim that there was history before me taking ownership. I haven't had an issue though as my SA is very easy to work with. I should buy her flowers to say thanks.

when my dealer replaced my HPFP, they broke the TMAP sensor clip, which the one we usually break during JB+ install. it pissed me off since that is a big excuse for them to prove i tune the car.

haha I think i should perform my after service checks to make sure all screws/ bolts clips are still intact and present before leaving. You'd think that a tech would be used to doing all of these things many many times before so they would know how to take it apart and put it back together properly...

You guys should use tamper-proof paint on the cowl bolts and screws, sort of like how certain dealers are wiring shut or painting ECU boxes
