I-Drive response when it's cold...
Anyone else encounter issues with your i-drive when first starting the car in very cold weather?
My i-drive has a tenandancy to be very slow to respond to inputs when I first get in my car when it is cold out. Sometimes it even pulls stuff up on the screen that I did not ask for. I only seem to notice it doing this when it is cold out though. |

If you mean slower response overall, thats just how liquid crystals act when they are below optimal operating temperatures. Put your LCD TV, monitor, or phone in the cold and it'll do the same thing until it warms.

I've noticed the same thing on my 08 E90. BMW electronics are really below par. I've noticed that none of the controls (volume, mode, presets, etc) work for the first few seconds, sometimes up to 30 seconds upon starting the car. I wish their engineers would spend less time making everything tied together and overcomplicated, and make them just work. I miss the tech on Japanese vehicles that just works...all the time and had features 5 years ago that BMW is still missing... But I do love the style and performance of my 335 so I've accepted the sacrifices to get that for now...

^That's a problem with booting....my iDrive will do the same. It will work for the first few seconds on start up, then freeze for about 20-30 seconds and be normal.
It sucks but at least it works. |

I notice that the nav takes a while to boot up regardless of how cold it is. In particular the address book takes a while to load for whatever reason, even after the nav has already booted. Anyone know why this is?
