Advice for rear winter tire pressure
I put my winter tires on about two weeks ago - Blizzak LM60 run flats - and inflated them per the instructions on the door sticker to 42 PSI (rear). This is the 2nd season on these tires, and they only have about 2000 miles on them. Transitioning from summer to winter tires always takes some adjustment, but I'm really concerned at how slippery these tires are, especially in the wet - I feel like I'm riding on tires with the consistency of hocky pucks. Just this morning it's about 40 degrees, roads are damp, and twice I spun the rear tires merely starting up from a stop light. I didn't floor it - just wanted to move off in a reasonably brisk way. I'm thinking that even though BMW says to go to 42 PSI perhaps I should back off a bit - to perhaps 36 PSI or so. Any thoughts or experience with this issue? BTW - I know that run-flats are always a bit "harsh," but I have no complaints about the ride or handling of the stock summer run-flats.

The same happened to me yesterday. I think its because its not cold enough outside so our tires are too soft. Once it 32 or below I seem to have more grip.
