Springs performance purpose

Besides determining ride height and lowering center of gravity, do springs have a performance purpose?

I have the BMW perf. susp. dampers on my 328i but the springs I have are from a 335i. Since the 335i is heavier I noticed that my drop is not as low as other 328i's with similar setups. Never bothered me much as it makes going up curbs easier. But I wanted to know if I am missing out on anything performance wise.

Aftermarket springs are typically stiffer to reduce body roll and lower to lower center of gravity. I don't have the exact spring rates off hand but if the 335 spring rates are stiffer, then you will notice reduced body roll as well.

Lol meant drive ways. Some are steeper than others.

So since I have 335i springs, does that mean better performance due to the extra stiffness?

what is the mark on the springs? T3 D5 etc...

The higher number indicates the stiffer spring. the letter indicates if it is performance spring or ZSP or regular....

Yes, you are missing out, because the BMW perf shocks are matched to the BMW perf springs, and because the perf springs are stiffer. Add the springs and your car will turn in better, roll less, and have a better, smoother ride.

I installed BMW perf shocks on my 328i without changing the springs, because I was told they were designed to work together. That information is incorrect. I later installed the performance springs, and experienced the very changes I listed above.

When the perf kit first came out, Tischer did tell me that if you had zso springs you didn't need the yellow perf springs. With the new kit apparently you do. I wonder if the dampers are different now.
