Front License plate warning
I'm sure many of you don't run front plates - well, I just got my first official warning.... 3 weeks after I bought the car.
Funny part is, I never received a front plate from the DMV. What have you guys done in the past? I really don't want to screw a plate into the M3 front bumber. does anybody have pics of custom plate installs? what about running the plate in the front windshield?

I have never been pulled over for no front license plate, but did receive a warning from a cop when I was stopped. Well after almost a year of not running one, I still haven't gotten a ticket *knock on wood*

been running with no front plate for 4 years. got pulled over twice(once on each car) with just a warning. they can still pull you over for having the plate on the windshield but just BS them if you get pulled over.
it's intresting that you didn't get front plate from DMV. Does your registration mentioned something like "front plate still required" ? if you have $150 to spare, google "remote license plate holder" or "retractable license plate" ... you get the idea

Depends on the car. Honda, they cite you in a second. 4 years and no ticket on the E46 or E90. But I did get another ticket for the my Pathfinder.
For the record. It's only a "fix it" ticket the first time. |

I had front plates but I removed it and installed bumper plugs. Its been almost a year now and haven't got pulled over yet. I think cops know that we don't want to have the plates because its a nicer car and is more willing to let it go unless they haven't met their "quota" lol. Just my opinion.
What kind of cop was it? I notice getting pulled over by a state patrol or motorcycle cop, your going to get a ticket. Some city cops are anal too but depends where you are. Sheriffs don't even bother you. They got more serious stuff to do.

I was coming off the express lane exit downtown that is only reserved for carpools. He was on a motorcycle at the end of the exit watching for carpool violators. He was probably annoyed with the lack of violators this morning, and not too excited about the rain, so I'm assuming this was a method to get out of the rain, and excite his boring position.

it is always good to put on so there's no probable cause for the officer to pull you over, especially on weekend night. they will just do that to find out if you've been drinking "to score (if you know what i mean)".
i know some put on tow hook plate thingy it looks alright (bit jdm-like to me though). with that being said, i never got a actual ticket for not having a plate for 14 years! yup!

Got a ticket last year in my G35 for no front plate. Never even got a warning. Got a ticket in my SVT lightning in 2006 for no front plate. Had no plate on that for 4 years. Have no front plate on my current truck and BMW for a couple years now and have not been pulled over yet in those vehicles. My 65 Shelby Cobra Replica has classic plate and they do not give you a front plate for classics. Stupid rules.

I got pulled over once, but the cop was really nice about it and told me to be careful. He even recommended the tow-hook plate holder.

never been pulled over for it for 3 years without front plate on my A4, but there is an actual plastic piece that comes off and replaces the plate holder, so it was easy to BS and say that i didnt want to drill holes in my car and it came like that..
Also i always tell people dont put your license plate in your window, its still improper display.. if anything you are just drawing attention and making yourself look like 1. JDM 2. Vdubber 3. crap. hahah
