Michelin Primacy MXM4 ZP vs. Pilot Sport A/S 3
Need to replace my tires on my 2009 335d. I decided to get either the Michelin Primacy MXM4 ZP run flat or the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 run flat.
Any thoughts? The Pilot Sport tires is only $31 more per tire and have about the same treadwear at around 500. |

Are you looking at 225/45R17?

In that size there is not a run flat version of the Pilot Sport A/S 3 in case this factors into your decision.

I currently have the Continental ContiProContact SSR tires and they seem fine. Any tires similar to these, but for a lower price? I am looking for a good low price tire with great tread life and it must be quiet and smooth. Thanks |

If smooth/quiet and run flat are your criteria, you may want to look at the current run flat Pirelly P7 Cinturato that BMW is putting on some of their new cars. Every loaner that I have driven with this tire has ridden very soft and quiet. I believe there is currently a rebate available for these as well.

Personally, I would probably go with a non-RFT A/S 3, but it's up to you!

The Michelin MXM4 ZP is a bit stiffer riding compared to the Conti Pro Contact SSR but it has slightly faster steering response and a bit more cornering grip.
Overall I would say that they are fairly comparable to each other.

What would you recommend for 225/45R17 run flat tires that are smooth, confortable, quiet and have good tread wear and are reasonably priced?

I've had the primacys for about 2k miles so far and they're great. Smooth and quiet. If you wanna go rft route, these are best deal for your money
