Got my first RED Warning Light today - turn out to be brakes
I got the quite a scare this morning when I got my first RED Warning Light today , the first thing I saw was a symbol of a car on a lift and I started to worry and pulled over LOL. Turns out to be only my brake pads. LOL. I guess it's time to spend more money $$$ I think I wont change the rotors yet as they are not worn out yet and I might prefer to spend that money on other things.
Has anyone had this warning before? I noticed that on my small speedo screen it says I need to replace brake pads, but in my idrive service menu it says I still have 4700km to go before I need to replace the pads? It seems a bit confusing??? I am thinking on ordering the parts online soon, which is the best store to buy them from? I need to get front brake pads for 335i e92. I am also thinking if I should order the rears pads too and all 4 sensors, but I could also wear out 2 sets of fronts before I wear out the rear which are less than 6 months old. Any thoughts? The car is not worthy of it . I love my car, but not that much. I saw someone trying to sell a set in the m3 forum. If I am not wrong, he couldn't fit the kit with the wheel he's got, they were too big.
I would prefer to get a sports bike for 7-8k, then I will have a second toy. |

There are only 2 sensors, front left and rear right. You will not be able to reset the service light unless you change these. Beware of cheap non genuine sensors as they may not fit properly. (From my experience)
You may also need to machine the disks. This costs about $55 a disk. All up it should cost about $500 if you don't need new disks. |

Hey ABC99G,
Thanks for the advice, I was looking at buying 2 front brake sensors, haha, already had it in my cart. I think I will get just pads this time. The rotors are so smooth and is almost flush to lip, better than all my past cars I am surprised But it is so tempting to get so many other things. (oil filters, spark plugs, umbrella LOL, battery trickle charger, jack and toolkit LOL) I can't do it just yet because I am flying out in 2 weeks But I found some pretty good deals on ECSTuning. |
