Did you see this!

At a recent Summit to discuss how road deaths can be reduced to zero, Rune Elvik, the Norwegian Institute of Transport research chief said that to achieve zero deaths “Motorcycling would definitely not be allowed. Car driving might be allowed but you would not be allowed to choose your speed. There would be an Intelligent Speed Adaptation system in the car that dictated your speed and took that option away from you”.
God talk about the nanny state. If it gets like that, I’ll give up and jump from the highest building.

I don't think so. I'm sure some idiot would ride their pushbike into a group of nuns or something.

You'd have to make nuns and pushbikes illegal as well.

And we would have to all stay in bed for safety with pillows strapped to our heads in case we accidently rolled out.

Dangerous things beds. They should be illegal.

I'm off to hide under the stairs for the rest of the day. I'll do a risk assesment and method statement first though.

Oh .. and I'll need a fire marshall and evacuation plan.

Anyone who said such a thing should be instantly sacked as they are clearly unfit for the job. With even a basic level of scientific understanding it's pretty obvious that zero deaths is impossible - even if all driving functions were taken away from humans and all roads were actually tunnels with no pedestrians, no weather, no cyclists and no external influences mechanical failure, no matter how well protected against would still come up from time to time.

I take it you've had confined spaces training and have a calibrated gas detector then?

I decided it was too dangerous.

I really want a cup of tea, but the combination of an electric kettle and boiling water could be lethal.

... lol this is SUCH a contrast to the PH meet we did last weekend...

You couldn't imagine a more anarchistic event !

Expecially the "Spirited" drive to the Pub afterwards... we had a VERY interesting wrong side of the Road moment with a member of a well know competitor's team !

Anarchy FOREVER !

Absolute tosh - zero deaths is impossible. According to the Times today, many more people will die of heart disease in the near future. Now if some of them do so either on the road or in their cars........

It's an absolute fact that we are ALL going to die of something.

I personally plan on having some fun before that happens

You might want to look at emigrating then! UK gets worse everyday - it'll be illegal to fart in a public place soon, you won't get nicked by a real person though - just some machine that monitors farts!!

True, but there are worse places to live ...

Rwanda, Kenya, Darfour, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Cuba ...

I'm a 'count my blessings' sort.

There are three countries that are taking this guy seriously, Sweden, Norway and Australia! Sweden and Norway I can understand, but Australia? That would be the last place I would have thought that would have given this guy the time of day.

Yeah they will make cars and motorbikes illegal, yet if some scumbag knifes you in the street, he will only get a few hours community service
