Exclamation Meth on long run DD ?

After I saw few results what were achieved with meth I instantly wanted meth kit for my 335 also.

Few seconds after I also got scared what it could do to my car (will it break the engine, will the service intervals change etc.) on long run because my 335 is a daily driver for me. I've asked this on few threads but never got direct answer.

There's currently 85000km (52000 miles) on my cars clock and it's still stock (except BOV, exhaust, DCI) but I've JB3, Quaife LSD and catless dp's waiting for installation.
Im planning to keep my car until the F30 3-series 335i coupe or M3 coupe is out.

So is it safe to use meth on long run and will it effect to engine and maintenance?

Thanks

Just like anything else - more power means more wear means more breakage.

Yes it will affect the life of your car. How much? Not sure...

Nothing personal, but what are you basing this on? If you run the same exact map on the tune with methanol then you car will still be substantially faster. More power does not mean more wear and breakage. You can run safer sometimes with more power by simply replacing the poorly designed stock parts on the car.

From what I understand meth is actually good for these cars. It helps lower engine temps and has other benifits as well. As long as you maintain the car (oil, spark plugs, etc.) you should be fine. I wouldnt suggest driving hard all the time though

meth is not even the slightest going to hurt the longevity of your car. Its one of the only mods that can increase it. water can atleast keep your engine carbon free with regular use.

Methanol is not like nitrous where it gives more power that you did not already have. Meth/water injection supports your other mods and increases what they can do by having a colder combustion temps and more efficiency. It also allows you to run higher timing/boost without having to run race gas.

My company has been in business since 2004 and I have been running it on my daily drivers since 2003.

IC also helps to increase the longevity/efficiency so it's not the ONLY MOD...

I do maybe a few hard 0-60's in a week on summer so I think that can't be a problem on long run?
Most of the time I just cruise downtown.

phew, so there will be nothing wrong if I use meth on my daily driver continuously 2 years or so?

I did not say it was the only mod. Maybe you need an eye checkup?

Yep. Meth lowers IATs and cleans the cylinders.
Meth is great for our engines.
I just hit 65k miles and I run meth, but it is set to go on at 4psi.
Sometimes when I go to work (42 miles one way) I will never activate the meth.

How long have you run on meth?

I was thinking that when I get meth kit installed for my car I'll set it to go on at 9psi or so. So when Im cruising downtown the meth is off most of the time.

You can have a system with an ON/OFF switch so that you can turn on the system whenever you feel you need the added boost of octane and cooling...My system is not set up to be on ALL the time, and I love it..

I never even considered meth until I read this (guess I should have done more research before ruling it out).

How do you accomplish this?

The power wire from the controller and safeinjection (if you have one) instead of hooking it up straight to a switch power source, you just hook that power wire to a ON/OFF switch and then to the switch power source!...Its a simple setup...
If there is no power going to the controller, the system will not flow, and if there is no flow there is no map change!!

I got most of my installation ideas from FormerBoostedIS DIY thread...I used his idea of mounting the ON/OFF switch in the center console compartment...Here is the link to his thread

Hmmm...I am using Snow Performance with Lebonte safeinjection...With your coolingmist CMGS kit, I think you should ask the rep how to hook up the on/off switch because the gauge can still be used as a boost gauge, so installing it the way I would think would shut the entire system including the gauge off also and you would not be able to use it for boost...I am sure it can be done because I seen a thread about it already...Do a search and you will find it involving the coolingmist CMGS kit with ON/OFF functionality....If you want to install a on/off switch to shut the entire system off, its really easy...the wire going to the fuse box, just intercept it into a switch and from the switch out to the fuse box...but remember this shuts the entire system including the gauge down also which you cannot use as a boost gauge, but there is another way to do this but you need to find the thread about it...

This is the diagram that we came up with for any tune chip that has a way to switch maps by using a switch. This would automate the process and allow the CMGS to display boost all the time, but only inject when the more aggressive map is present. If flow was ever disrupted, the system would automatically switch back to the lower map.
