i tried my snap-in.. nothing, zero, zilch.. no power =( same as before.

Okay, so.. learnt up on a multimeter and how to use it.. finally =)

I checked the black plug near the hand brake for the snap-in.. has 12V at the plug, So, that confirms power at the armrest. Leaving either the snap-in base or media snap-in being defective.

hey jezzy...I have read some where this problem can be caused by a faulty snap in adapter....I think I have already wrote this some where on this thread or in pm......do you know anyone with one so you can try it before you blow any more cash on the project?

Meaning the media snap in.. ? No.. don't know anyone who has a bmw nor with a snap in. I'll have to borrow one or perhaps goto a bmw meet and find one to try.

I bought another snap in media adapter off eBay yesterday. Will get it in a few weeks.. fingers crossed.

Tried it. No change. I removed 655 and re-added it to Cas and frm no change. I noticed once I removed 655 I got back my radio presets woohoo! So I'll give up Sirius and be happy with my presets. I can save Web radio and tune in radio apps right with my buttons on my cic. Push them and the app will open! Cool.

Hey jezzy , nice to hear from you again, I thought you may have pulled all your hair out through all this and gone into hiding

I have internet and txt messages. Never tried emails.

Do you have the office menu ? Might be under connected drive or phone menu.

It will be in there.


As for internet you have to put a compatible vin number in the combox for this to work. Do you have internet in connected drive menu?

I'll find a good tutorial out for you later.

hey jezzy..ill have a look through my .trc files , but adding a internet enabled vin to the combox will only work once you get internet option on the idrive screen....

BTW, I received my 2nd media snap in adaptor, and still NOTHING. Sounds like the base plate I got be dead! Grr.

I got my OPS unit today.. I think she's a real OEM one !!









It's got a card slot.. wifi ?? and a usb slot

I noticed a small black and red pin beside the OBD port.. wonder what those little plugs are for.

Cables are ordered, 20$ for the Ethernet one (10Meters), and 90$ for the OBD 16 pin and MOST cable.

So 160$+20+90 = grand total 270$ ! Now fingers crossed that it works!

ah crap regarding the snap in.....petty your so far away.....

at least you should be able to read the 1b file of your cic now and generate your own map fsc code....

Cool for maps! I have lots to learn before doing cars for locals!
As for my problem's.. Ya don't remind me!

I do have 12v at the armrest so only thing I can think of is a dead base plate.

So.. I got another snap in and another base plate.. Same damn no power. So that rules out defective snap ins or base plate! Still doesn't solve my snap in issue.

Leads me to 2 things

1) emulator prohibiting power to snap in?
2) tcu\mulf adaptor for combox missing necessary wires to send power to snap in
3) perhaps coding has an issue?

Other than that.. Loving my CIC retrofit!!
