will contact them in a few weeks when come back from my holiday, did speak to CGU a few weeks ago and they quoted $2200, I currently pay about $1300 with $700 excess with PayAsYouDrive. Expecting NRMA to be 2 grand + too, will see.

I'm going to guess the silver car in the first pic is about a 1" drop such as BMW performance or Eibach Pro-kit.
The white car is a bit lower again. Perhaps H&R sport? |

well for one, Sydney insurance prices are crazy, the other thing is I have only about a 6 year insurance history in Australia but with no bad driving record. I would think quite a few here in Sydney would be paying 2k+? Was with AAMI before that paying them 2300-2800 (they increased my insurance by 500 after an attempted window breakin) till got sick of their prices and switched to PAYD since also don't do too many kms. Such high prices just to insure a 320i.

Just another note 15yrs ago springs actually cost more if not same than u can get them today. Also no eBay or USA sales hehe. And $500 was alot of money 15yrs ago for uni student.
Inflation definetly didn't hit the aftermarket mod market.

Hi, just like Cruvon I am looking at the suspension options for my car. I have a stock 325i and I understand that from OEM perspective there are several pathways: Sports Suspension (I think standard on e92s and available on e90s in US and Europe), M Sport Suspension and BMW Performance suspension.
Has anyone done a stock to OEM improved suspension upgrade? At the moment I am steering towards OEM rather than the aftermarket option. Any specifics like part numbers, photos would be appreciated. |

E93 non sport experience
I formerly had a 2001 330cic (convertible) with sport suspension, which I replaced with a 2008 328i convertible with standard suspension so I could get a stick and a hardtop. I saw a Bavarian Auto advert for a "sport suspension" upgrade with Koni yellow adjustable shocks and H&R lowering springs and I sprung for it.
Stated drop was 35mm front, 22 mm back. I think they got that backwards. It ended up too low in the rear and about right in the front. So I put back in the original rear springs, and I like the forward stance now. Moreover, the wheels look properly centered in the wheel wells, so apparently I didn't need lowering in the back. The shocks are another story. With them set to 50% maximum firmness, they were horribly jouncy. I learned later that the adjustment only applies to the rebound stroke, which accounts for the sensation of a firm hit followed by a springy rebound. Awful! I set them to full firmness and the ride is pretty decent now, though not as supple as the factory sport suspension on the 330cic. It would be helpful if we could get together a summary of what to expect from the various available options here. A friend has advised me I should have gotten Bilstein/Eibach gear and would be happier with it. Last edited by Tom Moore; 08-25-2015 at 05:05 PM.. Reason: Add photos |
