DVD Navigation update disk - Good News!
For those who are waiting for an update disk for their 2008 and older cars with the factory DVD navigation systems, I have good news.
NavTeq is no longer supplying DVD update disks. The contract is now with TeleAtlas. I spoke with someone at TeleAtlas today to try and find out what is going on and he said the disk will be released to dealers within 2 weeks or so. There will be a link on the BMW website for ordering as well. He told me it will retail for 199.00. BMW customer service was the one that referred me to TeleAtlas. If anyone has any questions, they can call TeleAtlas directly and ask to speak to Andrew. TeleAtlas - American Headquarters 11 Layfayette St Lebanon NH 03766-1445 800-331-7881 |

sorry, I did not get specific details on what will change with the DVD update disk. I was so thrilled to know an update will be out soon. He did ask what forum I was on when I told him many customers were not happy with the lack of info and he said he would post some info concerning the update.
We shall see if he does post anything or not..... |

Thanks for the update! My response from BMWNA was that Navteq is still the supplier, then it was "ask your dealer".

06-08 E9x (as well as other cars with CCC iDrive) use the same map disc.

I went on BMW web site, looked for map updates, came up with this link:
http://navigation.teleatlas.com/bmwusa Went there and selected year and model, the result is an unidentified map update DVD for $199. It doesn't have any information of the version number, or whether is the Navteq or Teleatlas one. I have the 2008 DVD that came with the car, I don't want to spend any money if this is just the old 2009.1 from Navteq, or doesn't provide any update at all... |

Why is this good news? Are Tele Atlas maps better than NAVTEQ?
