Service intervals are determined by the number of gallons that have passed through the engine. The harder you drive (or the poorer your commuting conditions) the shorter those intervals will be in terms of miles. You are also entitled to a service every year, regardless of mileage and if you don't put many miles on the car you might hit the annual service first.

i think the computer is a little retarded. It does supposedly react to your driving style so everyone's service intervals will be different depending on how hard you drive the car.

My first service was at 12k. Now my car is closing in on 24k which you would think my next service would be coming up. Well the computer still says 7k until next service. Go figure that one out? Good thing when I took my car in last thursday for a brake warning light the day off the 1qt low oil warning came on so they changed my oil. Apparently they have to change the oil to fix the warning, not just add a qt of oil. Plus they don't reset the service indicator.

There is also a date programmed in for state inspection required. My light went off, I went into the dealer and it had been set for the wrong date and they reprogrammed it with the correct date on my sticker for emissions inspection.

Not sure, because my commute is 90% highway, and i've avg about 23MPG for the past 7 months so it can't be that many tanks of gas

Your driving habits must have changed then. Did you move? Do you take a different route to work then you did the first year? If no then I'm at a loss.
My service guy told me the car is very sensitive to driving habits. He even told me today...you must drive on the freeway a lot.

I do about 80% highway. I'm at 15,500 and it still says 2500 to go. However, I'm at my one year anniversary so they are doing my service anyways...it's there right now actually.

yeah, highway driving must have a lot to do with it... ive put about 4ooo clicks on my car and im supposed to have a service at 25 ooo. I still have 21 ooo to go LOL... almost ALL my driving is highway, other than when i get off the main stretch and hit a few stop signs before i pull into my driveway.

funny thing....
my service interval went from 12k to 9000 to 8000 in just two week's length
I guess it really depends on your driving habit, cuz I've changed from driving mostly city to almost all highway for the past week or two
