Tried that. Their response was, essentially, "It's got to be on a ship by now, but we don't have that information." They couldn't understand why it would be waiting so long there, but they can't track it once it gets to Bremerhaven. I've been sitting there 2 weeks. BMW Rep said it shouldn't take more than a few days to get on a ship.

My CA's response (yesterday) was also, "I don't know why it is delayed so long. That's strange. Hopefully it will be on the next ship."

This is extremely frustrating. W&W still shows no info for my VIN. Any other suggestions? Is it possible it was damaged in transport to the port and is being repaired up there but nobody has told me? That wouldn't necessarily bother me, but at least it would explain what the hell is going on.

Damage, if applicable, is usually repaired at the destination port (VPC). I don't think damage is the reason for your delay bro, but there always exists the chance that I'm wrong. Let's hope for the best. My car has been at the port for approximately 7 days.

Thanks. Hey, when you enter your VIN at the W&W site, do you get any information? I get a message that "no information is available for that cargo."

I haven't tried entering it from the W&W site. What's the link?

And you weren't on a ship as of 7/1? Did you ever get your situation resolved? My car was done on 6/28 and was up in Bremerhaven a day later. Now it is almost 2 weeks later, and I still am not on a ship or even scheduled to be on a ship. My CA is sympathetic but not particularly helpful. Meanwhile, I see others who were built a week or more later than mine already scheduled on ships.

I don't want to end up with the same situation as you. Did you ever find out what happened?
Yesterday I found out that my car is on on a boat and next expected to reach the VPC in SC till 8/3/06. I almost flipped out, knowing that after it reaches VPC, it will still be around another 1-2 wks before I actualy have the car.

So, today I went to the dealership and talked directly with the sales manager... He was very apologetic for the LONG delay/wait. I took the issue a step futher and threatened to demand my deposit money back and go get a car somewhere else... (infiniti is running a great lease special on a g35 right now)

I essentially asked for a loaner vehicle to use for the rest of the duration that I am waiting for the car I ordered back in May to show up... He said he was going to have to call up BMW and get proper approval for me to be able to use a vehicle for an extended duration. (usually only allowed 48 hrs)

I am supposed to know the answer by this Friday, and if approved get the car on 7/21. He seemed very congenial and wanted to retain his customer base...

We'll see what happens...

Here's wishing you the best of luck, dmfitz82!

I realize how we must seem to other people -- sort of tough to feel sorry for a guy because his BMW delivery is running late. But I would be frustrated even if it was a Honda or a Kia I was waiting for, after being told it would be 6-8 weeks and having it take much longer than that. Well, maybe not if it was a Kia.

Well....maybe getting off the ship to the VPC

But...the car was actually being delivered to Denver, CO...for a friend of mine. So not on the same trailer from the VPC. She is going to fly there on Wed to take delivery. The car should be officially ready to go as of tomorrow though (just needed the rear spoiler to be added by the dealer). So....your car should also be ready by monday fo sho!!!!!!

Oh i thought this was for you...

it's at my bmw center now. Just waiting for the call...we reminded our fleet manager NOT to drill the front plate so we'll see. It's always a crap shoot. So i should be picking it up early this week, schedule permitting.

Click on Auto Cargo. Then enter the VIN number that you can get from the Owners' Circle web site. Once you do that, you can get the ship name and go to this site:

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/index.html

Enter the ship name, and it will show you a map of where the ship was last reported.

Finally, you can sign-up for a free trial from this site that does an even better job of tracking: http://www.aislive.com

This applies only to the east coast bound ships, correct? If so, what's the procedure for the west coast bound ships? I believe that my car is the AUTO BANNER vessel (..NYK ships).

Yes, those sites are only good for the East Coast. From what I've read, there really isn't a good way to track your ship if you're on the West Coast. I thought I read in your profile window that you were on the east. Sorry.
