Exclamation Evacuated out of the cinema this evening..

Myself and the Miswah, were watching

I AM LEGEND

and about 3/4 thru and a weird but very quiet beep kept coming on, then about 5 mins later alot of dull/muffled shouting, thought it was part of the film untill the film soudn cut out and

**Attention** came over the loud speaker. I didnt really think much of it as the film resumed... my miswah and another randon lady went to chekc it out. Every started becoming disturbed and started to get up, a young guy who worked then came in very shaky and asked us in a panicy voice to leave as there was a fire....

we were evacuated out back and we coudl smell smoke.. alot of people went to the car park and drove off just as we did, many stood outside, thinking about it we should have stayed for the rollcall..

Lack of a plan in an emergency springs to mind..

i mean the alarm was so dull you could hardly hear it in the cinema, the other screens went off ok thats where the shouting was coming from as THEY ALL evacuated whilst we still sat there waiting to be trapped and burned alive, etc

Not impressed really, but at least miswah and i got out ok

Carlos

Hi Carlos, that was a bit scary! Were you and your girlfriend at one of the big multi-plex type cinemas? Wonder if anyone reports it to the HSE lot!

Glad you both got out ok though.

Yes we were fine, but what if no-one got up, what if we didnt realise. We could have been trapped. Two fire engines turned up very quickly as we were leaving. DTC did its best to stop the arse hanging out as we did leave

I think they neeed to look into the whole emergency situation procedure as theres is shocking.. and the fact the alarm didnt go off properly is bloody disgusting and scary.

G33 please do not tell me

Carlos .. don't panic about the alarm. Most large multi use buildings have a staged alarm and evacuation policy.

Ordinarily there are various alarm systems within individual business areas which are interfaced.

There is usually a 2 stage alarm process where the staff are alerted by a discrete alarm (possibly the beeping you heard) they then have a short period of time in which to investigate and if necessary evacuate.

In the case of a definite fire, where a break glass is activated or multiple detectors activate simultaneously the alarm automatically goes straight to stage 2 - full evacuation - and the fire brigade are called.

It sounds to me as if the alarm was in an adjacent part of the building, so the cinema was in 'pre alarm'.

A lot of public places have silent evacuation policies, with code words. It's a lot easier to evacuate 2000 people when there is no audible fire alarm or people running about shouting 'fire'.

If you like I'll tell you then end of I am legend. I watched it at home on Boxing Day.

If you really want I'll send you the DVD.

So you've got some sort of Digital Trouser Control to prevent your arse hanging out?

I know it will have been scary but this is ridiculous!!

Glad you're OK anyway Carl, it'll be on DVD in a few weeks anyway if you're now a cinema-phobe.

Don't knock Peppa Pig steve - it's classic TV

The day of the triffids TV series was pants, but the original book is excellent.

Compared with 28 Days Later:

Both start with the lead character waking up in hospital to find that some sort of disaster has occured and the streets of London are deserted.

Both have a section where the characters flee london, take refuge with the army and then find that this was a bad plan

Both end with the characters retreating to an uninhabited area in the country side.

I am Legend...

I just didn't get the dummy hanging infront of grand central station...

Was that trap set by the nutter who let the dogs loose or what ?

I also think the whole sponsored by Ford thing was a bit dim....

Anyway...

Yes .. Will Smith was trapped in exactly the same way that he trapped the woman ... which meant that the infected people were still intelligent.
