Don't mean to crash the topic but all your figures seem really low. I had my manual 335i for three weeks before I came back to the rig and in that period I was averaging 31mpg over about 2000 miles of motorway, A road and town driving.

I have had my (manual) car since september 1st, and have covered approx 18k miles to date.

These miles have been accumulated on a mix of all types of roads and conditions. I don't use large throttle openings in towns (much) but tend to work the car quite hard out of town - the lack of low end torque combined with that straight six howl encourages me to hang on to every gear!

Where conditions permit I will cruise in the high 90's (very occassionally above).

My MPG rarely differs; I'm always on a forecourt between 330 and 350 miles and need somewhere between 57-60 litres.

This equates to an average MPG of approximately 26mpg and this has been repeated over those 18k miles

My wife has the E91 ED 325i Auto and she gets around 31 - 32 mpg on her very busy A/B-road 15 mile commute. We took it to Belgium last week and it managed 503 miles on a single tank albeit all motorway travelling at the limit and above.

I get 32 - 34 mpg from my non-ED 335i on my 26 mile commute to work - mostly motorway but with 5 miles of suburbia. I use a 20 mile route home - all stop/start B-roads but actually quicker than the clogged motorways in the afternoon - and get 25 - 26 mpg. These are OBC figures however. I typically manage 360-ish miles to the tank.

Fill up tank.
Reset trip.
Drive until near empty.
Fill up again.
Divide miles covered by gallons required to brim the tank.

US and UK gallons are different in size;

A US gallon equals 3.875 liters
A UK gallon is 4.545 litres

So, our brothers from across the atlantic will have different MPG figures from us in the UK.

[QUOTE=chrisbin;2771463] and as far as BIK taxation (for company cars) goes, it seems that you previously got a 1% reduction from the band that the car would be in based on its stated emissions....however it seems that was dropped for the 2006-7 tax year.....obviously too green....
QUOTE]

No but it does just goes to prove that the government's stated intention to 'encourage' us to go green for environmental reasons (daft) is nothing but a smoke screen and the reality is that the more they can make us pay for using the 'wrong' type of fuel, the happier they are....

'course all proceeds will be ploughed into road improvements and public transport, so bearing in mind the tax revenues:

Fuel Duty 2006/07 - £23.6 Billion
VED 2006/07 - £5.1 Billion

I expect to see roads as smooth as billiard tables, traffic wardens wearing haute couture and some seriously pimped up buses/trains (oh sorry, forgot they're all owned privately nowadays)....

probably shouldn't hold my breath should I?

i bought my 2005 325i 2-3months ago when i bought her she was doing 27.7 mixed and now after i replaced precat oxy sensors its doing 29.4 mixed ( mixed i mean both motorway and some very moderate town driving - i avoid short start stop routes)

I am fitting the LPG autogas esgi kit at the moment and will post my savings soon . 98 cent per liter vs petrol @ 1.70 per litre is a no brainer . I am fully aware i will have BHP drop i expect 20% loss from top end so from 220BHP down to 180 is acceptable to me - plus you always have the greedy button should you need it.
