Hello people.

I've just bought some new 8.5 & 9.5 wide 19" 359 reps for my e91 and was wandering what size tyres to get?

I've been told 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 are the best size but I'm struggling to find runflats in this size so was thinking of putting 225/40/19 and 255/35/19 on.

What sizes are people running on their 19's?

Does anyone know if the 225/40 and 255/35 will rub at all?

Its a pre LCI e91 Msport and the et of the wheels are 37 front and 30 rear.

Personally I'd sack the runflats off & fit the first size you suggested in something like vredstein ultrac setanza or falken 453 etc

Dump the RFT or fit 225/35 R19 front and 255/30 R19 rear if run flats are to be kept.

40 profile on the front and 35 on the rear are the wrong profile for the E90 on 19's.....

Quite right, my oem 19" 313s are 225/35 & 255/30

I got same rims and I'm running 235/35 front with 265/30 rear . Car is pre lci and tyres non runflats. Good luck

I have Falken 453 on mine, on an e91, 225/35/19 front, and 265/30/19 rears. My fronts are very slightly stretched, but I run a combo of low offset and spacers/lowered car so it works for me. When its time to change, I will probably stick 235 on the fronts.

I'm still abit reluctant to remove the run flats cause Im not really sold on the tyre sealant option. But the 235+265 non runflat are almost £300 cheeper than the 225+255 runflat lol.

Run flats are a good idea in theory, but in practice they are awful.
Less grip in dry and wet, less comfort, more expensive and they don't wear very evenly.
I'm sure I read somewhere that on average you will have a puncture every 100,000 miles. Obviously some will get more.
In my opinion getting rid of them is the best mod that you can do

Also keep in mind that the run flats are considerably harder/firmer than non-run flats, and given the profiles are quite low, it might be better to have non-run flats and invest in a spare/can of seal/breakdown service. You only need to look at the issues BMW had with run flats and cracked alloys.

It's an interesting debate I suspose. I can see the arguement from both sides.

Has anyone actually used the BMW supplied sealant? What is it like?
How easy is it to use?

Not worried about myself more the Mrs when she's driving it with the little one on board

why are you going for a higher profile? if you can't get the "width" 235 and 265, then you might aswell keep oem sizes and stick with 35 and 30 profiles.

I had two cracked alloys with the Bridgestone Run Flats = £ 1,000 !!!.

Switched to Goodyear AS2 Non-RFT with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19

Ride comfort/grip is vastly improved

It's not necessarily the case. It does depend on the wheels fitted and how look after the pressures.

It's been known for 17" and 18" wheels to crack too with early RFT tyres.

That's why the MV4 was replaced by the 313M wheel as they were stronger. They can crack too the same as any wheel under the right circumstances.

There have been no reports so far of the 20" wheel on the F30 cracking with RFT fitted and they run the same profiles as E90 with 19" wheels.

Any wheel can crack, just depends on the circumstances. I think what many of us are saying is the bigger the rim, and hence the lower the profile, the more likely you are to be susceptible to damage either in buckled wheels or cracks. Not saying that you will never crack one with normal non-RFTs, just as we are not saying only 19"s crack - just that with that combo you are at a higher risk of issues.

I'm kinda edging towards non run flats now. the cost and the ride quality are big factors.

I also have 8.5" and 9.5". Max you can go is 245 and 275. Currently run 235 and 275. Might go 245 on the fronts in the summer.

If you're concerned about a puncture, just by a small spare wheel. Funny thing is, i had 2 punctures on runflats, but none on my non rfts so far. Touchwood.

Now i would like to buy a new set of tyre for my pre LCI E92 335D. Now i have Pirelli Pzero RFT around, but these are shit. Do not want to spend more money for RFT tyre, it is very uncomfortable, and the stability is not good as well.
So, my choice is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. But i cannot decide the size... I have styling 230 alloys(8x19, 9x19) with 225/35 and 255/30 tyres, these sizes are the factory recommendation. But the price of the 235/35 and 265/30 tyres are similar. Will these sizes fix well on my rims?
Or will be better choice to stay on the factory sizes?!
