Do I have to have a backend flash or tune to run 100% e85?

Guys if I want to run 100% e85 with say the fuel it stage 2 lpfp upgrade. Do I have to have a backend flash or a cobb tune? Can't I just use my Jb4 map 5?

Your best bet is to add the stage 2 lpfp and the new port injection kit. Stage 2 lpfp isn't enough to run straight E85

You can't run 100% E85 without either port injection or a HPFP upgrade.

You will need a back end flash via cobb with custom tuning.

He must have some other type of injection also. Wait for the Fuel It TB injection, that is being made for someone that wants under 500whp, but to run pure E85. It will be much cheaper too.

+1

Also there are no gains from running 100% e85 with stock turbos

SYNG, his is N54 and he just has an upgraded LPFP no other fuel system upgrades.

You probably could run 100% e85 with just an upgraded LPFP and the proper back end flash. But on lower boost levels only. So you would end up making less power than if you ran e50. Find a good tuner and talk to them.

I am going to install the Vargas HPFP and try running 100% e85 on higher (20+ psi) boost.

You'll need flash tuning on the fuel side. Piggybacks don't have sufficient control over fuel and substantial scalar adjustments need to be made.

You won't see useful gains on stock turbos going from E50 to straight E85. If you do, it would be the result of tuning that would smoke the turbos in about a month.

You'll need addtl. hardware to run E85 safely. At the very least, a robust low pressure setup. Highly likely that will not be sufficient, in which case you'll either need to add pressure at the high pressure side (VTT), or add in port fuel (BMS or Motiv).

But to be frank, I don't see what the goal is here. You'd be throwing fuel at a motor that currently can't put it to use for a variety of reasons.

Lol you make some good points I just don't like having to fill up and mix 2 types of fuel but yea I will probably buy the VTT HPFP upgrade soon
