BMW Windscreens

Is it just my imagination, or are they crap?

I've just got my 3rd stone chip in 10,000 miles.

hmmm...i got so many chips!!!...but all repaired....

is it because of the windscreen quality?...I though it was just bad luck....

Interestingly...I never had one chip on my 406!!!!....and I did lots of miles on the motorway!....

I think it must be BMW windscreens in particular. And maybe recent BMW windscreens and/or German manufactured BMWs. I never had a problem with a 2006 325i..... although that car was made in South Africa. I've never had a particular problem with other cars either.

In addition to the chips I frequenty hear horrific crack sounds when a stone i can't even see hits it; I haven't had that with other cars either.

Do you know if you have a windscreen repair/replace if it makes your insurance premium go up the following year?

Always worth checking now and then otherwise that chip you did not get repaired because you didn't spot it will end up doing this (and then you enter a whole world of pain and dealer visits trying to sort out rain sensors)

I assumed it was the shape of the car and the steep rake of the windscreen that made the 3 more susceptable to stone chips.

I too have never has as many problems with other cars.

I never had issues on past cars, accept if a bolt or large stone hit.

The E90 is on its second screen during my ownership and in direct sunlight its looking shot blasted! Pitted with loads of minor chips and thankfully as yet no major ones.
