Yes it is. Looks like he went over a bump and didn't have traction control on.
Back end slipped out a bit and he didn't correct properly. Summer tires in cold temps are also a possibility in what caused him to slide. |

I would guess
the cause of the accident was a complete loss of grip. The car simply skated over the road, so best guess is a combination of very slick road surface, no DTC and most probably some worn down tyres.
Friend of mine lost a 5 series on the autobahn in a similar way. Small undulation, worn tyres (still above legal limit) and slick surface. Tow guy told him they haul high performance cars off that stretch of highway on a very regular basis. |

Maybe track tyres on or very worn rears.
Fucked up big time.

By the way the car drops just before it veers off I'd say the driver had put their foot down to sneak in that left hand lane rather than taking the slip road that all the other cars in his lane are taking.
Traction control must have been off and the road looks like a skating rink. Shirt answer. The driver is a tool. |

If you look very closely (i've re-played it over 10+ times) you can clearly see him accelerate just before he hits the little bump and the combination of his driving skill, wet roads and traction control possibly being off led to him performing the involuntary 360! Nice.

He doesn't seem to be concentrating on the road all that much either. He drifts slightly from one edge of the lane to another a couple of times before hand. He taps his brakes when he's not that close to the vehicle in front. Possible on the phone and driving with one hand. Hence the lack of control when it all goes wrong.

He's driving along the trunk road from Causeway Bay to Central in Hong Kong. Temperatures are unlikely to be below 10C and could be significantly higher. Wind appears nominal.
He is in an expensive bright orange BMW. I surmise that his mainland girlfriend in the passenger seat was giving him a BJ at the time. |

Never mind that, the traffic on the nearside two lanes did my head in just watching.

Quite good lane discipline and observance of the solid dividing line between lanes (you can exit, but not enter the LH lanes). If this was in UK then the camera car lane would be clogged with chumps trying to merge left.

It would and I'd be one of them I wouldn't sit in a queue like that for anyone.

Other than the bloke in the 1M, who barged in rather too literally, there wasn't anyone pushing in that I could see.
I couldn't stand traffic like that. I spent a few weeks in Seoul recently and the traffic queues made me ill. It took me nearly two hours to get to the hotel from the office, a distance of about 15 miles. It's fcuking mental in the Far East.

I was in a queue on the M2 for Bluewater on Sunday with just such a scenario. I don't see what right drivers have to jump the queue |

His car slipped before accident and that is a strong indication that his DTC is off. He is keeping good distance and braking without reason indicating that he is messing with something, possibly phone or G.F. I also agree with others who are mentioning that wet coditions, possible poor tyres and lack of concentration + 1M made it happened. I just think, it could be any of us on that car and could have done it. That is why, it is strongly recommended to keep DTC on.

I find that the DTC rarely impedes the driving experience/performance, except when it can bog you down a little when pulling away briskly. Due to this, I never find the need to switch it off.
If I ever took the car on a track day, I may choose to play with the magic button, but not on the public highway and certainly not in conditions like that. Perhaps the driver thought it necessary to activate DTC/DSC when getting into the car and didn't realise it was on all the time as standard? |

Lots of balanced, technical reasoning here.
I'll throw my hat in the ring; The driver is a clueless Fucktard. If you choose to drive in the wet, with traction off (which it obviously is) in a 300+bhp car you absolutely have to be on the ball, the whole time. No nattering to passengers, no fiddling with your iPod and no playing with your cock. If you want to disengage your brain and look at the scenery don't use WOT in the wet with traction off. If you can't catch a slide at that low speed a) you aren't paying attention and b) you don't have sufficient talent to allow you to touch the traction button.
