08 335xi half engine light after high rpm, no codes

Hey everyone, this is my first post and just wanna say I'm glad to be a part of the community. Anyways, in my 2008 335xi auto, after a few good pulls going into high rpms the half engine light comes on and then obviously turns off after the engine is shut down and restarted. Anyways I plugged my code reader in and it came up with no codes. What does this mean? I'm new to this stuff so it's just confusing me. Thanks

You need a BMW code reader. Sounds like you have a generic code reader because whenever the car goes into limp mode, there is always a code logged into the ECU. A lot of us use Carly Pro which is an app that runs on your Android/iOS device.

You could have a turbo boost leak but you won't know for sure until you get the exact code scanned.

Hmm I will have to try that out and then hopefully I can solve my problem. Thank you for the input!

why would you say turbo boost leak? Im only asking because im having same issues on my 2011 335i n55, also my car will shut off randomly while its diving. I restart then its back to normal.

I said he may have a boost leak because of the high RPM limp mode. I'm going through the same thing right now and I get code 20FF which is a boost leak code.

As far as your car shutting down in its own, that's a whole nother issu. Could be your HPFP or something else.

When it comes to diagnosing these cars a BMW code reader is a must have or else your just taking a shot in the dark. Either find someone who could has a reader or purchase one and then go from there.

probably misfires from old spark plugs or dying coils.

i had same issue, i would only get the light at high rpm and max boost. no issues on regular driving.

start with new spark plugs and replace your coils.
