Question Anyone use 245/40-19 and 275/35-19 on their xi car yet?

I am in the Morr GB and am looking at running all seasons with a slightly taller sidewall due to our spectacular roads and unpredictable weather.

Anyone use this combo yet with any success on their xi car?

The %diff in diameter is better that the 235/35 265/30 combo for 19's so it technically should work.

Thx.

I guess if you don't lower it, it may work. But that overall diameter is 1.5" more than stock, so depending on the offset, it may rub.

I'm getting 235/35 front and 275/30 rear.

I was thinking about this same setup 235/35 275/30. Are you going to lower your ride Nikolas?

Probably not. We get so much snow where I live that ground clearance is really important and it's a lease. I may look into the BMW sport suspension that just came out, but I don't know how much that lowers the ride. My new setup should be arriving soon - M6's with the tires I mentioned. I have a sedan so I think it should fit OK. Lowering may require a pretty aggressive rear camber setting, but we'll see.

I'm debating the same thing, but am looking at the CSL's or the VS7's. We do get quite a bit of snow here too, so I'm not sure if lowering would be the best way for me either.

I think that BMW sport suspension for the xi does not exist, I checked.

I think you meant 245/35/19 for the front tires. 245/40 is way too tall & will throw off the X-drive computer.

Yeah, I was looking at Tire Rack and they recommend a 235/35 and the 265/30 in the 19". I agree the 245/40 is too tall anyhow.

I wish I knew BMW's specs for the X-Drive.

Anyone ever see it printed somewhere?

He actually had the sizes correct with regards to equal diameter front to rear. He was proposing 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 instead of 235/35/19 and 275/30/19. In both cases the outside diameter of each pair is very close to equal. His option came to 26.7/26.6 inches while the one I went for is 25.5/25.5. With a sedan XI stock suspension the larger diameter may work and fill the gap a little better. On the other hand it may rub like hell. In either case both combos should not affect the x drive.

I'm not so sure about that. When I price it with installation, the site asks me for my zip code. It references availability at my local dealer and sends me a quote for an installed price - $1600! ouch.

But thats not bad, if true. You would end up paying about the same with aftermarket coilovers (KW V2, which currently don't work, V3's would be way more expensive) ..... and this would be warrantied suspension also.

But some people say it's a web site error.

I love my H&R sport springs tho.

You have an E92. The coupe doesn't have quite as much room in the rear wheel well as the sedan.

Glenn I understand where you are coming from but I still suggest going max performance for the summer and swap wheel/tire at the right time. you poured so much $$$ in mods I am sure you want the best tires so you can laydown all that power to the ground.

Yeah, I know, the snow here this week has totally bugged me out.

I suspect I'll go back to the Pilot PS2 and do the 235/35 265/30.

Still this shoulder season sucks.

Guys in Calgary were doing the swap back to winters last weekend it was so bad.

I know I was actually finding the situation quite funny given that we had summer weather here in North Bay this past weekend.

We had snow the last tow nights. Not much, just a couple inches, but today is supposed to be spring like again. I may ski tomorrow.

I ended up with the 235/265 combo.

I couldn't find any evidence to support the 245/275 sizing.

I just think the 245/275 would fit the VS8's better. I went with the 235/275 combo for the sake of x-drive.

What tires are you running Humtek? I would suggest looking at the actual tire diameter to make sure they are close in size, not the calculator at the top. Every tire is just a little bit different in circumference.

245/35ZR19 PS2 has 807 RPM
275/30R19 PS2 has 814 RPM

235/35R19 PS2 has 817 RPM
265/30R19 PS2 has 822 RPM

So as it sits right now, the 235/265 is better if you chose Michelin PS2s
