Exhaust Tips

I'm getting a muffler delete done soon and had a few questions. First, I believe the size of the stock exhaust piping is 2.5" (someone correct me if that is wrong) so when looking at tips, does the inlet diameter have to match that or can they mess around and make one fit that slightly different? Also, is there any benefit with going with Cyba tips over something such as Magnaflow, which is roughly a third the price?

thanks

Yes, stock catback sizing is 2.5". The stock tip is 3". You will want an inlet diameter of 2.5" and then an output of whatever size you want. The most common output sizes for this car is 3.5", 3.8", and 4".

Tip brand dousn't really matter, but some of the more expensive ones probably have a higher quality finish, that won't rust or oxidize as quickly if at all. You should give Dimisa tips a look as well.

Stock exhaust is not 2.5", It's 2.36".

2.36 ID. You don't buy tips based on ID

Pretty sure that is the outside diameter. Ask my 2.5" vibrant resonators how well they lined up.

this is the one i was considering:

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...rentProductId=

It is $25 compared to DiMisa for $100; however Jegs doesn't clarify if that is for one tip or a pair of tips and DiMisa states their price is for a pair so Jegs might be $50 and in that case I might go for the DiMisas

They have the proper inlet size (2.5") and they were the right size outlet size that I want (3.5") but I did notice the 12" length... that just means they would cut the 2.5" straight pipes further back.

However, none of this matters because I got some DiMisa tips off of a forum member. Thanks for your concern though.

The silver V3.5s.

I wouldn't have thought you could, but I just got back from a local shop where a guy had it done. I still prefer the more common route though
