Eric,

I'm guessing you'll have 335i dp's before 335xi correct?

I don't think a fuel pump is the problem on the car. This is a direct injection car so the pump is kicking out IMMENSE pressure. I think just larger injectors would solve the problem and we are already working on it

Remember with direct injection its not spraying fuel into the intake stream and being pulled into the engine by the operation of the valves. This is spraying into the combustion chamber on the compression stroke. The injector/pump has to fight a ridiculous amount of pressure to be able to spray into that environment...I doubt fuel pressure is the problem....I think with increased HP its volume that is. Again though, we are on the case as we speak

I don't really have much in the way of pictures but I will see what I can do. We have never really been much on pre production pics as the final design could vary greatly from what I could show you now...but I don't think there is much harm in it.

Out of sheer curiosity- is the AMS shop 335 awd or rwd, auto or manual, coupe or sedan?

Well that is debatable. It should be a manual no question. Sedan and Coupe makes no difference. They both weigh almost the same. As for RWD or AWD, we're starting to see a lot of AWD numbers up there with RWD cars. JPSIMON for example, I believe passed quite a few RWD numbers with his AWD car.

AMS is known for their AWD cars, so I see an XI in the near future.

awd for drag racing, sure. This AWD system wasn't really built for performance though, not like the Evo's and STi's were. They designed it for snow and other bad driving conditions. Hence why you can't get the performance package with the xi.

Just a guess here, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the xi cars having the most transmission issues with tuned cars on down the road.

Anyway, I was only teasing about the RWD 6mt coupes being the only performance car

Not a big drag racer myself. Evo's and STi's were built for performance, but strength was their weakness. Transfer cases and trannys were not up to big power.

This may possibly happen, but with AMS now working on the 335 I'm sure we'll have some upgraded stronger parts if this does happen. Transfer cases I could see for sure.

I know since your the one with a Coupe, RWD, 6MT lol

not entirely true the evo 5 speed and subaru 6 speed are STRONG transmissions. For instance our drag car (1142 all wheel HP and 8.42 in the 1/4) uses a shepherd transmission but its still stock case, stock gears, Stock forks...really a stock reworked transmission. The transfer cases are pretty tough too. You need to make some serious power to hurt one.

We will see what the AWD system on the 335 can take. Right now we are working with the RWD model.

I stand corrected. I always thought the shepherd transmissions and transfer cases were stock cases, but with different internals. My bad

he has some special things he does but the gearsets and most of the unit is close to stock. He does a great job but he is limited as there are no aftermarket forks or gearsets available outside of a true dog or sequential box

Are you guys thinking of modifying the injectors like what is widely done in the suabru world?

its most certainly an option. With it being DI we have to really be careful and do testing that was previously unnecessary because of this new type of fuel injection. When a car is operating on such a high rate of fuel pressure you have to really make sure you have everything covered.

Hopefully its figured out soon My knowledge and experience is limited with direct injection systems. I've been wanting to play around with a new manifold or turbo, but the fuel situation definitely needs to be addressed.

Also congrats on the 1000hp 100oct build. Very nicely done, I would of liked to have seen you guys get the duel setup tuned.
