Basic questions: How many speakers? Plus that thing in the trunk...

I have a 2011 335i sedan, entirely standard + sport package, leather and split rear seat.

My car has standard (for 2011 335i) sound system, no upgrades. However, my car has tweeters, which means that I can immediately see 6 speakers in my car (I have no center speaker). So, what kind of sound system is that? "Base stereo"? HiFi? The information I see in this forum is a bit confusing: some people say that the presence of tweeters immediately indicates that this is a HiFi system, and not a "base stereo" system. But according to some posts in this forum HiFi system is supposed to have speakers under front seats (is it so?). I don't believe I have anything under front seats, although I didn't look very carefully. So, does anyone know how many speakers a standard 2011 335i sedan has? Anything under the seats?

Also, if I open the plastic hatch in the floor of my trunk on the driver's side, I can see a rather large heatsink installed there. Apparently there's some device hidden under that heatsink. Would someone please tell what that device is? Is that a dedicated amplifier for the rear speakers?

Look under your seats, please. You have the HiFi system.

Thank you.

I looked under the front seats and I did see a flat D-shaped grille under each one. Apparently, these are my underseat woofers (although they don't look much like subwoofers). According to the documents linked by ctuna, I should also have paired speakers on the rear deck (making it 4 speakers in the rear instead of 2 as I originally thought). All together it makes 10 speakers total.

So, apparently it is safe to assume that the standard sound system in late-year 2011 335i is 10 speaker HiFi, right?

P.S. Oh, I see that you said "2 rear tweeters deleted in the Hi Fi for 2011 and the HK I have read". I'll take a closer look at my rears.

Sounds like the information wasn't confusing in and of itself, what you read was correct. For more info, we have an explanation

But what you read was correct. Base Stereo = no tweeters.

Tweeters = HiFi or Top HiFi (first branded "Logic 7" and in later years branded "harman/kardon")

Tweeters and center = Top HiFi

Tweeters and no center = HiFi

EVERTYTHING has speakers under the seat.

They deleted the rear tweeter in 2011

There was a minor downgrade in 2011.5 build from the previous HI Fi system
Model year 2011.5 build the first 2011 builds had the lousy base system till
the September build I believe this is for US cars only . Hi Fi is a paid for option elsewhere.

They deleted the rear tweeters in 2011 so its 8 speakers

never the less you have the system that is easiest to modify

Contact VP Electricity for kits he has a link on any of his posts

Late Model 2011 E90 Base Stereo

Does anyone know if the new base system sounds much better than the early 2011 model with no tweeters, no amp? Does the new system come with a separate amp?

I had the old HI Fi

A High School buddy bought a 2011 with the new High Fi and I don't think its as good as the old Hi Fi. But I might be jaded since I have a Musicar system now. It still sucks unless you are one of those guys that likes 128k mp3's,
maybe even then.
Its suppose to be the same - two rear tweeters but I think they may have used cheaper stuff.

Notably, the grille covers for the front tweeter were opaque pre-2009, now they are see through. The parts are the same (check realoem) excepting the loss of the rear tweeter.
